Miami Dolphins Changes! - Please note I've written targets for the positions, but I KNOW we won't get all these guys!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've written about each position and talked about potential rookie targets or FA's that we add this year.

QB: VETERAN? / John Beck / Cleo Lemon

* If theres one thing that can be said about Bill -- he favors veteran QB's. Other than his handpicked Bledsoe in he early days; Bill likes QB's that make good decisions and are reliable. We don't know what will happen with Beck. But we can bet that we don't bank on him being the next Tom Brady.

RB: Brown / ? / Booker

* Look for us to either keep Ricky, keep Chatman, or add a guy Parcells likes. Booker showed flashes of greatness, but his bulk and inability to take hits will keep him as a role player. We should be set at RB.

WR: Ginn / Limas Sweed / Bryant Johnson

* I think Parcells drafts a guy, cuts Booker, and goes for value in a guy like Bryant Johnson. I think Limas Sweed also fits the mold of what Ireland and Bill have in store for us.

TE: Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M

* Our guys favor size, and Bennett stands at 6'7'' and is an adequate blocker and good receiver. He will probably be Round 2 or 3.

FB: Reagan Mauia

* I think he is molding into a great FB and will benefit from Sparano's addition. He is also huge : )

OT: Flozell Adams, Vernon Carey

* I really think we snag Adams from Dallas. We are raiding their staff, look for us to get some FA's, too. Vernon Carey returns to RT, having added a whole new dimension to his game.

G: Faneca, Andrew Bain

* I like Bain because he fits the size mold and is a mauler, and I said Faneca because it would be a dream. I don't know if we go for a guard and tacke in FA -- given the big $ given to guards, we're talking $49+M contracts. Faneca? He will probably sign the biggest contract for a guard in history.

C: Samson Satele

* They say they might move him to guard, but I don't know... I think Sparano will make a good decision, but I just don't see them moving him!

DEFENSE

OLB: Terrell Suggs, Joey Porter

* I really think we make a play or Suggs, who MAY command a lower price due to his drop in sacks. Considering his age and sheer abilities, I see a good fit. He rushes the passer like an animal and will only benefit from Jason Taylor (if we keep him.)

MLB:

* Crowder plays the MLB position better, as he can't seem to get to the passer. I am starting to feel more and more like Zach Thomas won't be a Dolphin next year. Sheesh.

NT: Soliai, Frank Morton, Tulane, VETERAN?

* I think we roll the dice on another young talent in the later rounds with size. Morton can also rush the passer. I know we'll also grab a veteran NT here for rotation.

DE: Calais Campbell OR Chris Long, Jason Taylor

* Calais Campbell's stock has dropped, probably would have to be targeted with a pick we got in a trade (who knows) or our first in round 2. He has a lot of room for improvement.
CB

CB: Will Allen, Marcus Trufant, Jacques Reeves

* I don't think we focus entirely on Samuel, we go for value and production in Trufant. I like either guy here -- and Allen can play better as a #2. I think Ireland grabs Reeves from Dallas, who is somewhere between a #3 and #2 guy and great for depth.

FS: Ken Hamlin / Jason Allen

* Has Hamlin signed an extension yet? Ireland brought him to Dallas from Seattle -- he may lure him here. Hamlin makes turnovers, and hits hard. He is a liability in coverage sometimes, so needs to play with a big pickup like Trufant / Samuel. Allen really has stepped up his play, but Ireland will hold no allegiances and may not give him a shot to prove he can keep getting better.

SS: Bell / Craig Steltz / ?

* I think we draft a SS somewhere, but a healthy Bell fits what our guys like... He is a good tackler and has big play potential.

All that having been said -- what are your favorite targets see us draft in our first 3 picks?
... and what would your 3 FA wish list look like?

I say:
Free Agents:
1) Flozell Adams
2) Marcus Trufant
3) Terrell Suggs

Draft:
1) Glen Dorsey or trade out and get Long, Cason, or Gholston...
2) Limas Sweed
3) Martellus Bennet

couldnt have said it better myself....

why wouldnt we go after Asanta,he is by far the best DB availiable, and he went to UCF...u think he wont come home???and the second running back is Ricky.....last,Limas Sweed is gonna be gone before we pick again,he is going in the teens somewhere prolly the Bills....and we are going to have Joe Flacco number 3,Trent number 2,Beck 1,we will draft Adrian Arrington with our 4th rounder,we will pick up Shaun Rodgers in free agency, and will draft Dominque Rodgers Cromartie in the secong round, and draft Shawn Crable in the secong too

We're not going after Asante Samuel because the price tag will be WAY too high.

We're not going after Asante Samuel because the price tag will be WAY too high.

Maybe thats what we need though. Maybe we need to break the bank for a key defensive player in an area of perceived exceptional weakness.

Imagine if we get Dorsey or Long for DL and get Samuel from the pats. In two plays we just took our D from sad to scary. I know we have holes on O and D that we need to fill but we've been trying to fill holes with little nobodies for a long time. What's wrong with going after a great player? So we have to pay for it. That'll get forgotten pretty fast when the D is smashing heads.

Looks good on paper, but won't happen. There are too many high priced vets in your list, even if they don't go after Samuel.

You think we can afford Faneca, Adams, Trufant and Suggs on top of whatever vets you place behind ricky, at QB, and at NT??? This would absolutely, 100% NEVER happen...
:bong2: Sorry bro, but you need to come back from neverneverland, and fast

Hey guys, I guess I was just writing targets for positions. NO WAY we get all those guys, I was just writing answers to our problems at positions. I think we get two good FA's, one of which will be Trufant or Samuel.

Madden syndrome strikes again

i few things i noticed jb.
1. if we do happen to get flozell for lt and move carey to rt..we deffinately won't be getting faneca as that would be too expensive..what to do with hadnot? carey a fa next yr. i say if we get flozell then we draft a lg to replace lewenski(and since it will be a rookie the price shouldn't matter this year as it will come out of the rookie pool and shouldn't affect or normal sal cap right?). keep satele where he is, i think we can throw enough cash to keep hadnot here without breaking bank and have carey at rt.

2. if we don't throw mad money at faneca and flozell it gives you more room to be able to bring in a trufant or a samuel.
3. yea zach may not be playing next year but with the lastest issues on channing he may not be playing as well. so we are possibly looking at needing 2 mlb's one to fill for zach and one for a backup if channing is not here. i want to replace channing anyway. then if we keep taylor at end we will also need another olb.

4. finally somebody agree's with me on drafting steltz at ss albiet in a later round but would be a good pickup for us in a position we need depth in and won't be expensive. how is his injury from the championship game?

Samuel is overpriced and Trufant isnt leaving Seattle...unfortunately
