The Miami Dolphins haven’t closed the door on re-signing safety Yeremiah Bell, but the team appears ready to move on. The Dolphins still sees value in its former team captain, who led the team in tackles the past four years despite the fact they cut him last week to preserve $4.3 million in salary cap space. The bottom line to that decision was Miami didn’t believe Bell was worth a $6.2 million. When we get past the classless way they handled the decision – waiting for the New England Patriots and New York Jets to sign a safety before they released Bell – the Dolphins aren’t wrong with their evaluation. Bell has always been active on the field, and is a excellent leader and locker room presence. But he’s never been a safety who covers a good amount of range. His limited coverage skills prevented the Dolphins from being flexible in how they used the safety positions. It appears defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle, who has had a number of reclamation projects with safeties like Gibril Wilson, Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson believes he can make something happen with the talent that’s presently in-house.http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hins-not-ready-to-play-it-safe-at-safety.html
