Miami Dolphins Official Head Coach search thread

It’s crazy the dislike for Lafluer. Dudes team is competing and in the playoffs EVERY year.

I’d take him as our coach in a heart beat. Other than Harbaugh, no candidate is even close. I also don’t think he’s gonna be available, it would be idiotic for the Packers to let him go.

Then again, I thought the same of the Ravens and they did it, so.

Brutal for them to lose Kraft and Patsons to ACL’s. Those were the biggest difference makers on both sides of the ball.

I’m with you, I have them as my top 2 but LaFleur fits our timeline I dare to say better than Harbaugh due to age.

You can’t rule him getting fired out after that loss though. One thing I am certain of is I want no part of Hafley.

Your correct, some people, including me, see the negatives over the positives. He would be the strongest coach we have had in a long time. The NFC north isn't an easy div

Can you, or anyone else who wants Chris Shula, explain why you want him to be the head coach other than just his name?
Nobody who’s actually willing to tell you the truth can give you a legit reason other than his name. There’s almost no ****ing track record with this guy and I just watched his defense give Carolina’s offense just about anything they wanted for the better part of 60 mins.

Harbaugh’s a long shot and it’s looking like we fired McD just so we could hire someone who might not even be an upgrade. That sounds about right for Ross and the Miami Dolphins!

Oh, and I almost forgot, we’ve got fans in here trying to make Saleh sound not so bad even though I think McD lost to him once out of 6 meetings.

Interesting that none, to my knowledge, have Green Bay connections. That shouldn't be the criteria, obviously, but I expect that list to grow and include a few.
I like it .. familiarity shouldn't be the number one factor ..
If Sullivan is comfortable going with experience / skill that's a plus in my book.

I did not go through this entire thread, but David Furones @ SS reported a list below this afternoon:

"The Dolphins, according to league sources as of Saturday afternoon, are looking to interview: Harbaugh, Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, former Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator and former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh."

LaFleur has won 0 NFC North Titles in the last 4 years. He is 1-5 in his last 6 playoff games and has 1 playoff win in the past 5 seasons.

Packer fans are begging for him to go elsewhere, don't pull another Philbin by getting this overrated pretty boy.

after reading more about Klint Kubiak I must say that I am impressed. Not only was he interviewed by us but there are 5 teams that want to interview him also. One of those teams being the Ravens, which interviewed him this Friday. A friend on mine who’s a die hard Ravens fan said he nailed that interview.

I would be more cautious about first-time head coaches than McCarthy who offers instant playoff credibility.
McCarthy's career success isn't much different than Harbaugh's. W-L pct is .608 for Mac, compared to .614 for Harbaugh. Mac is a year younger than Harbaugh. In 9 of 13 years in GB, they made the playoffs. 10-8 record. 3 of 5 years in Dallas, they made the playoffs. But only a 1-3 record there. To be paired with a first-time GM, I'd not be opposed to Mac. He and JE obviously are very familiar with each other. So if they go the route of Mac as HC, we need to give them a chance before anyone comes unglued that their favorite young up-and-coming coach was not hired.

I don't see how JES who was with the Packers since 2003 has more affinity for Hafley who joined the Packers as DC just last year under LeFleur than for McCarthy, a HC who he worked with for over a decade in the Packers building. That would be odd.
Hafley was hired the year before last. Two years as the GB DC, but as you say, 13 years working with Mac. JE obviously knows both very well. So, if he chooses either one, fans just need to acquiesce to his superior knowledge of both.

Me either, but I would prefer a defensive minded coach. McCarthy will be the play caller, and I don't like that.
In Dallas, when Kellen Moore was OC, he called plays. After Moore was fired and Schottenheimer hired, McCarthy took over play-calling. The Dallas offense ranked highly with either one as the play caller.

I don't see how Miami could afford Willis, there is going to be real competition to sign him this offseason.

Halfley looked like a genius when he had Parson wrecking havoc but GB collapsed after he got hurt.

I still like the idea of bringing the name SHULA back to Miami.
GB's defense ranked higher in 2024 under Hafley than in 2025.
