No excuses.
Punter Matt Darr didn’t want any part of any rationalizing his fumbled snap that helped give the Jets a temporary lead late in Sunday’s game.
Darr said his initial thought was disbelief because it had never happened to him before, not in the NFL, not in college, “not even in practice,” he said.
There was one more “never, ever,” Darr attached to the whole situation.
“It’s never happened before and it won’t ever happen again,” he said.
The play gave the Jets the ball on the Miami 18. Two plays and 10 seconds later, New York led 23-20 on Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Jalin Marshall.
