On January 2, 2000 Dan Marino played his final game in a Miami Dolphins uniform. In the 12 seasons since, the Dolphins’ tale of quarterback woes is a cautionary horror narrative that keeps many an NFL GM awake at night.
Miami has started 16 different players at quarterback since Marino stepped away from football. It has finished in the top ten in scoring one time since (2001) and no higher than 12th in total offense. Only two seasons since, 2001 and 2008, have the Dolphins started the same player for all 16 games. The organization has played in one playoff game since 2001.
Here are the 16 quarterbacks who have started a game for the Miami Dolphins since the retirement of Dan Marino following the 2000 season:

This has nothing to do with the subject of the article which seems obvious to say the least. But 1/2/2000 was Dan Marino's final regular season game in a Dolphins uniform. He played 2 additional games in the playoffs that month-- one a nice game in Seattle, the other being the sorry culmination of the JJ era in Miami which unfortunately provided a horrific cap to Marino's Hall of Fame career.

There is a really good chance 2 more (Garrard, Tannehill) will be added to that list by the end of the year.

I don't think it has been that bad of a horror show....not the kind that you cover up both eyes. People forget that Jay Fiedler had one of the highest winning percentage of any QB in NFL history (.659)....we just never got far come playoff time. I would say winning 2 out of every 3 games is far from a horror show.

Dan Marino's winning percentage....(.613)....just saying.

Jay Fiedler was one of the biggest reasons why we didnt go far come playoff time in the early 2000s. Fiedler was a bum on a very good team and we won in spite of him and Wanny during those days. It's absolutely been a horror story since Marino retired, a brutal one. We need a good QB in the worst possible way.

Jay Fiedler also helped the Jaguars beat the Miami Dolphins 62-7 in Dan Marino's final NFL game. Jay could have been a better QB in Miami had he had some guys to throw the ball to...he didn't exactly have Mark Duper/Mark Clayton at the WR spots.

I am so sick of hearing people defend Fiedler. The team won in spite of Jay, not because of his exploits. The defense and the running game had more to do with that winning % than Jay did!:err:

You are correct sir!

Funny how the article says we were co-AFCE champs in 2008. Media always has to suck on the Ratriot teet in some shape.

i dont care, ill say it til im blue in the face and have said it in many threads, i loved fielder (hated too). him and penny were the two qb's that actually seemed to care about the team and winning more than any of the other fins qbs in that span. unfortunately they were also about the two weekest arm qbs we had zip wise. you give penny or fielder hennes or feelys arm and they would've been great. i know every qb cant be marino, but both were headfirst qb's for us. fielder threw the bad passes cause he had too much faith in his arm, some of the others threw the bad passes cause thats what they did
