By Saturday at 4 p.m., it’ll either be him or Jason Sanders on the roster in a decision likely made by special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi.

The other one will be on the open market, but the good thing from Joseph’s perspective is that he believes he’s proven himself as a legitimate kicker whether he stays with Miami or not.

Think he definitely has the leg ... better leg than Sanders, but also believe he needs a solid year to refine his craft. He has the potential to be pretty good.

That 56 yarder that could have traveled at least 5 more iced it for Sanders IMO. On competitive close calls the decision likely will go to the kicker on whom we spent draft capital, if for nothing more than to justify the decision. They were giving Sanders as much opportunity as possible to make the roster decision more justifiable.

But Joseph did well and will be an NFL kicker so it's a win/win for both.

As an aside, last I looked Parkey had made all 10 of his PATs and 6 of 8 FGs and has cold weather experience in Philly and Cleveland; while these guys look encouraging, I'd still feel a lot more confident with Cody.

Personally Joseph> Sanders but we'll go with the drafted guy.

I thought I saw on twitter that Armando had pretty much said the team told them sanders was getting the job they were just going to let Joseph do a lot of kicking Thursday to showcase himself to others... maybe im incorrect

Both finished strong. Sanders always had the advantage due to being the draftee, but Joseph will get another shot somewhere. Kickers are a strange bunch. One minute they will look amazing and the next they're confidence is all gone. You have a lot of teams with dinosaurs at kicker, plus you never know how Sanders will do in actual situations, but Joseph has earned the right to get another shot.

On that note, all things considered, is it fair to say Rizzi may be the best ST coach in the league and if not at the very least top 5? Consistently having to change kickers, always great at blocking kicks/punts, very good onside units, has developed punters (Haack pending)
