Bill Parcells doesn't speak to local reporters and general manager Jeff Ireland rarely does, but Dolphins owner Stephen Ross offered an assessment of his team and doesn't sugarcoat the deficiencies at receiver.

``We still have a lot of needs,'' Ross said before Miami improved to 4-5 with a win against Tampa. ``We're a few players away from being a major force. It's only been 18 months away from 1-15. We're rebuilding. Anyone would say [there's disappointment] to start 3-5. But we have a better team than last year. We've got a lot of good young players and we are going to become a force to be reckoned with.

``I don't think Bill has a timetable. He hasn't been happy. If you ask who's as unhappy about the record as anyone, it would be Bill Parcells.''

Refreshing to see that he is able to show his disappointment where the team is at, acknowledge the talent, compare where we were at and finish it by stating his trust in his football guys.

The model owner.

I can agree with him on this one. We are going to be a force in about 2 years, man were going to be a sick team.

Great to see he's not going to stop until we have a winning football team on the field. Miami will win a Super Bowl in the near future.

i remember people bashing this guy but i don't mind him. he's better than wayne, that's for sure.

i also hope this puts to rest people scared about tuna leaving. i highly doubt that bill is happy with where this team is, and won't leave until more pieces are in place.

We need a Proven wr, like a reggie wayne/chris chambers back in 04/fitzgerald type receiver.

He's only stating the obvious....

Now Ross shut up, write checks, find more celebs and write even bigger checks!

Glad to see he is realistic. We could be a lot worse off. We could have gotten an owner like Dan Snyder.

I think the rebuilding term is way overused with this team. You are always trying to get better in the NFL. They were a few plays away from 5-3 or 6-2. Mainly thess WRs aren't getting it done and this defense can't give a full 60 minutes. Rebuilding to me says oh we never had a chance anyway becuase we suck. I understand give the Dolphins a little bit of slack becuase they were 1-15 such a short time ago but enough of these rebuilding excuses. No NFL team is perfect in the day and age of the cap, take what you have and figure out how to win on Sunday. Make plays on defense, catch passess, make a run for the playoffs not rebuilding execuses.
