Despite the addition of veteran Matt Moore, the signing of undrafted rookie free agent Pat Devlin and the botch trade for Kyle Orton, it appears the Miami Dolphins aren’t done shopping for quarterbacks.

The Dolphins are still doing their homework on players who play the game’s most important position, and that might lead to a few acorns – like Derek Anderson, Marc Bulger and Jake Delhomme – being picked up later in the exhibition season.

It’s also a possibility the Dolphins might explore trading for backups like Dallas’ Jon Kitna and Pittsburgh’s Dennis Dixon, who is a restricted free agent.

However, a league source said the Dolphins have done “an extensive amount of homework on Terrelle Pryor,” the former Ohio State quarterback, who is training in South Florida. That source said the Dolphins “will likely be in the hunt” for Pryor if he’s allowed to enter the supplemental draft.

Pryor’s status is uncertain because of the supplemental draft, which has been swept up in the lockout and CBA madness. Because of NCAA violations committed during his career as a Buckeye Pryor’s camp says he wouldn’t have been eligible to play college football in 2011.

Their goal is to get Pryor into a camp as soon as possible because the longer his status remains in limbo the less time he has to learn an NFL offense.

According a team source, the Dolphins like Pryor’s height, athleticism and arm strength. However, the team only views him as a developmental project, a third quarterback who would need time to develop.

That kind of designation could prompt the Dolphins to use a late-round pick in the supplemental draft to put a claim in for Pryor. Other teams previously linked to Pryor are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns.

kitna? delhomme? bulger? awesome! it looks like this front office is really trying to upgrade the QB position! ugh gimme a break!

No trades please and those other 3 names....not gonna do it. This reeks of desperation. A desperate regime is a doomed one.

This is one of the most depressing articles in recent memory. I think I crapped out half of my internal organs the moment I read "acorn" and "Derek Anderson" in the same sentence.

Bulger? Delhomme? Anderson? God, forget it, might as well save the money and take a shot with Henne/Moore.

Dumpster Diving at a NFL facility near you Jeff Ireland and his Great Dolphin QB search!

The NFL has declared Pryor ineligible for the supplemental draft!!! Something about Ohio State not officially releasing him ... which made him ineligible ...

The very idea that Delhomme and Anderson could be considered "acorns" makes the term meaningless.

This one's still up in the air. Evidently legal counsel for the Buckeyes just recently gave Pryor and his agent a letter saying Pryor would have been found ineligible to play in 2011.

"...botch trade for Kyle Orton."

So the trade for Orton was botched because we didn't get him? There was a group of people that didn't even want Orton, no matter the price. I wanted Orton for the right price. But because we didnt straight up give Denver what they wanted, the trade was "botched". I dont think we can not blindly assume it was botched. Similarly, we could assume that we were savvy and didn't over spend for Orton.

EDIT: I looks like the article has been changed to say "unsuccessful" instead of botch. Thanks to me, I'm sure.
