"We couldn't find ways to win," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. "That's something that we have to do. We have to be able to get there."

Other than losing a plethora of key starters to injuries, it's clear that the Dolphins' inability to prevent the "chunk" plays on defense, their failure to create turnovers like they did last season (minus-8 differential in 2009 compared to a league-leading plus-17 in 2008) and their 24th-ranked passing offense were key ingredients to the losing season.

The Dolphins allowed 40 pass plays of 25 yards or more and 11 touchdowns while having just 16 of their own with two TDs. Of course, the season-ending knee injury to veteran cornerback Will Allen in Game 6 contributed to the poor coverage, but so did having two rookie corners (Sean Smith and Vontae Davis) starting and learning on the fly.

The secondary will only get better with our rookies getting a full offseason of work and Will Allen coming back - to play the nickel spot

That article basically covered every post on this board the past two week. Very well written. All it needed was some insider information on what the FO is actually going to do.

V. Davis and S. Smith both took home game tape of every snap they played in order to study their weaknesses. I get the feeling that we are set at corner for a long time. I understand that they got burned and burned pretty badly, but we all have to remember that they were two ROOKIES starting against NIGHTMARE lineup of offenses. I really like the fact that they are both taking the initiative to study themselves and improve on the mistakes they made this year. That shows me that they are really serious about competing at a high level.

We just need Clemons to play out of his mind in camp so he can take over for Wilson.

I would really like to see how many of the 40 pass plays of 25 yards or more were up the middle and not being covered by our 2 rook's.

PLEASE, FOR GODS SAKE!!

will everyone stop mentioning will allen in ANY
conversation about his loss having ANY big effect
for our season.

has anyone REALLY watched him over the last couple years?

expecially at the beggining of this year. the guy was an absolute
TURNSTYLE at cb and made NO big plays anywhere!

will allen should have been replaced 2 years ago.

he was a CAST OFF from a good team. a team that chose him
high in the draft.

and he has NEVER been any kind of force here in miami.

have you EVER heard one player from ANY of our division
rivals even breath his name? no.

but you can bet the wr's from our division foes are sorry
he left. it was a day off for them.

most of the guys who got hurt outside of cobbs were no issue
at all. in fact, in a few cases it was actually a lucky break for
us [pennington, who looked pathetic and was 0-3 gave us
the future in henne, and will allen who brought out vontae davis
who made more big plays in his short rookie debute than allen has
had in the last 3 years].

and ronnie brown? he was reduced to a wildcat ONLY rb who lost the
ability to run out of standard formations. after he was gone, we got back to
traditional football with ricky making yards and plays out of standard formations
and the teams passing game opened up and the offense wasnt so predictable.

if will allen would have stayed healthy we would have lost MORE
games. and pennington was on his way to a DISASTEROUS season.

the defensive schemes and pizz poor coaching landed our dc on his butt in the
soup line [as he deserved]. we have NO real amount of talent on this team,
on BOTH sides of the ball. either they are old and un motivated or cast off
types that never had any real skills. these were the reasons.

and it caught up with us. thats what killed the season, not losing will friggin'
allen and chad pennington and ronnie brown.
