Dolphins coach Brian Flores addressed the media Thursday and obviously had something he wanted to get off his chest.
So he did:
* On “a source close to Dolphins’ thinking saying the team is auditioning Tua”: “We brought Tua here because we believe in him, same as all the other draft picks. We believe in developing players and improving on daily basis. That would be the opposite of a 10-game audition.”
* “I don’t see how someone close to Dolphins’ thinking could say this is a 10-game audition.”
* On LT Austin Jackson: “Like any player, when you’re out a few weeks, there’s a little bit of rust.” Team will take it day to day.
* On RBs: Myles Gaskin (knee) is going on injured reserve.
* On WR Antonio Callaway: “It was one practice, so I’ve seen him in cleats now, seen him in a helmet. He worked hard in practice yesterday. In my opportunities to spend with him, he’s excited to be here and play football.”
* On Matt Breida: He still has a chance to play. Hamstrings are tough to judge. “We like the depth at that position. We’ll see how it goes.”
* On playing a team coming off a bye: “They’re coming off a bye, so they’ve had a lot of time to watch us, study us.”
* On WR Preston Williams and his drops: “As a coach, you want to be encouraging, and at the same time, you have to let players know it’s important that they execute.” Says Williams is hard on himself, so “part of it is helping him move forward.”
* On quarterbacks under 6 feet such as Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray: “Good players come in all shapes and sizes.”
