Miami expects to part ways with a dozen by end of day

Finally time to do some housecleaning. New coach, new personnel, new team. It's about time!!!!

i would seriously consider keeping McKinney, Jacox, Bowens, and Harrington around at least until the end of training camp or pre-season. who knows if Culpeper shows hes gotten any better...who knows if McKinney doesnt bounce back and beats Hadnot for starting Center...what about LG? is Jeno James gonna get hurt again? David Bowens...well perhaps, but id still rather keep him around. altho im sure if we TRADED Bowens, we could get something...we could probably get something for Harrington and Carter too...not much, maybe a 5th or extra 6th for harrington, and a 4th for Carter...oh but they are free agents? meaning we cant trade them? hmm..

and if we do release McIntosh, there is no doubt we are pursuing an LT in FA's or draft...cuz whos gonna take his place? Anthony Alabi? no way. (not yet)

we never resigned him

dont understand Keith Traylor

hes shown interest in returning and im pretty sure the team plans on keeping him and letting evans, or manny rotate in with him... some of the people we will resign are gonna hit the market, it happens every year. if we dont resign him its just an accelerated learning curve and it could potentially mean a higher draft pick on a nose tackle.

Expected to be tendered:

Expected to be released/become FA's:

Kevin Carter
Keith Traylor
Seth McKinney
Joey Harrington
Olindo Mare
Bennie Anderson

Going to be a busy day!

I think it's a mistake to let the guys highlighted above walk.

The Tractor, even at his age, was a mauler in the middle of our Dline and David Bowens has been a very productive 2nd teamer for quite some time now.

I think these are the first mistakes of our new regime albeit minor ones.

Seems like this will be a rebuilding year so it's understandable not resigning Traylor, he was a great guy but he is really old and having knee problems he probably wouldn't be back in 08 anyway. I always liked Bowens as well but I am excited about turning over the team and making room for the younger guys.

Amen brother. As a former pack-rat, I can honestly say that throwing out old usless stuff is incredibly liberating.

LOL!

Miami is like a house with an old roof that has been patched and patched and still leaks. The only real cure is to take off the old roof and put on a new one.

Unfortunately, the cost of the new roof will most likely be two or three years more of struggling to win games because it takes a while to collect new talent and mold them into cohesive units.

I'll jump on that boat wit cha. But as we speak Joe Rose is talking about "If you're(the Dolphins) going to go out and get someone, get someone who's impressive. Don't overpay on someone mediocre." <-- As long as we do that, and get younger, I'll be more than happy.

I don't want to go out and pay Luke Petitgout 5 million dollars a year to compete in TC. <-- That's been the norm around here forever now and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Before paying a mediocre guy like Petitgout that, take the money, pony it up, and go after a young stud in Dielman(age 26)/Clements(age 27). That's all I want. If picking up Clements gets us one player when we might have picked up two, so be it.

If we had to let go of one I would prefer to keep Tractor over Bowens though I have a lot of respect for Bowens and that is despite age factor. Letting go of both is tough; that is a lot of experience and production between the two to replace.

Don't think you have to worry about them overpaying. It doesn't sound like they will go the big money FA route. Seems like we are rebuilding the team with the future in mind so if we were to sign any big money FA's it most likely wouldn't be until they get the team where they want it to be possibly a signing during the season if the team looks good but I doubt they pull the trigger this early in the process except for maybe Dielman or Steinbach if the price is reasonable.

Not yet? Isn't he entering his 3rd or 4th yr? Either he's got or he doesn't. If he's not ready by now then consider him nothing more than a career backup.
