Ok maybe your first thought after watching the bengals beat the ravens tonight probably will be that it hurts our chances in the wildcard hunt, and it does, but it also ends helping us in a big way.
The thing is we play the colts the last week of the season. with the loss of the ravens today, the colts now are the 1st seed by not one, but two games(they have tiebreak advantage over san diego due to a better conference record if they both end 14-2). if the colts win all their remaining games leading to the final week they will probably rest most(if not all) of their starters. this means miami will have an easy one against them.
the bengals still have to play the colts and denver, so this is not over until it's over.

I could sort of see it. This is why it's best not to dig yourself almost an unescapable hole to start the season. Even going into this week 6-5 would make me feel a lot better.

I believe it will come down to us beating the Jets and having them lose another game than that.

Kansas City and or Denver are going to have to lose 2 games as well.

There's a ton of scenarios that could happen from now until the season ends

If Buffalo can go into Indy and nearly win a meaningful game, we sure as hell could. Indy doesn't scare me, it is what it is. If the Fins want it bad enough they'll win it, if they don't then they don't deserve it.

it's amazing. No matter what happens in the AFC, people will bend it to make it out like we're still on track for the playoffs. Well, too many things have to go just right to make the playoffs, therefore, odds are, it won't happen.

Denver will continue their losing streak. They have lost two and will be starting Cutler this week. That means they will continue to lose. I am counting them out. Cincy is looking mean, so if they continue on their ways, it could be us and them picking up the wildcards. KC will lose atleast two more, giving us the upper hand on them because we beat them. The Jets will have to lose two. We will beat them, and we need the jills to beat them. When we beat the jills, they will be out. The jags can count themselves out after we beat them. They still have KC, NE, us, and colts. Ouch!!

The bending comment is somewhat true, but that just reiterates the complexity of the season finale. The bottom line is if we win out, we have a 80-90 % chance of making the playoffs. I'd say our chance of winning out is less than 80%. So, we probably improved our overall chance of making the playofffs. And as the thread states, our chance of winning out just increased. Our probability of making the playoffs with a 10-6 record slightly decreased.

Nice thanx for the outlook, i actually totally forgot the game was 2nite and was really pulling for the Ravens but it does help our chances of winning out now that colts have a better shot at 1st seed early, and so long as we win out, we shouldnt be worrying about other teams winning games too. Not sure but so long as we finish 10-6 our chances are pretty damn good of getting i believe.

I suspect the Colts will be wise to the cost of coasting into the playoffs, and won't hand us a damn thing.

I wanted the Ben-gals to lose tonight.

If Miami can win out...very big if...then I believe it will be as you state in this post, or Cincy, Miami and Kansas City all tied at 10-6. In this scenario, Cincy would get the 1st wildcard position and Miami the second.

It's a nice try but I don't see any way of spinning this positively. It would have been better for Cincy to lose.
