Dolphins high on USC LB Matthews

Outside linebacker: Lots of depth here. The Dolphins have been linked to USC's Clay Matthews, a former walk-on who ''can get after the quarterback'' and warrants consideration at No. 25. -

I really like Matthews, the kid looked really good at the combine and can seriously rush the passer.

I don't know if he is worth #25, but i think he will be there at #44 when we pick.

The kid is one bad Mofo and is a very very hard worker which is what has gotten him this far. Now being that Miami did not sign Brown and the fact we have not signed a Receiver pick number 25 could go to Alex Mack or Nicks.

THats the thing will it go to a wr cb or center. Maybe it goes to a olb bc they feel with more pressure we can cover up the secondary a bit (stall it or a year in other words).

And rumor is players are really high on dotson and his progression

after the Jason Brown non-signing, I have to believe that nobody knows one thing about what the trifecta is thinking

unless it is a smoke-screen

Question is, can Dotson rush the QB, or is he just another run-stopper? To me, he looks more like a 4-3 DT, or a DE in the 3-4, just not that powerful and quick to rush...I seriously hope Im wrong. Mathews, Sintim,Ayers (@44) or Maybin would be great!

maybin, and ayers wont be there at 44, nor will mathews .

Conor Barwin is a far, far better prospect for a 3-4 OLB.

Barwin is 15 lbs. lbigger
Barwin is taller
Barwin is faster
Barwin had twice as many TFL's as Mattews
Barwin had over twice as many sacks last year
Barwin was better in every singl combine event than Mattews was.
Barwin is know as a high character guy with an unstoppable motor
Barwin is known to a very high football IQ and phenomenal insticts
Barwin has excellent ball skills and Mattews has terrible ball skills
Barwin had 7 PBU last year, did Mattews have any?
Barwin blocked three kicks
Barwin has versatility and can play TE in a pinch or special play.

If we pick Matthews over Barwin I'm going to do something really bad.

barwin is great in coverage. but hell go top 15 if u ask me.

Anyone know if he could play ILB? He's a smart player, a tireless worker, and seems to be getting off of blocks pretty well while blitzing from the inside. Maybe that's how they see him

We could be taking Matthews to play inside.

IMO Maybins the best pure pass rusher in the draft.
Barwin is shootin up the draft boards. I was hopin he'd be there at 44 but now its not likely.
Mathews will be solid, better that Cushing(overrated) I'm not sure how he rode the bench till his last year at USC. Thats limits his draft value. Same prospect but a 3-4 yr starter would be top 15.

Barwin =Jared Allen with cover skills
