The Dolphins have gone from a team of promise to a team of despair in a matter of weeks. The offseason began with the chance of landing the top coach on the market (Jeff Fisher) and one of the top free-agent quarterbacks (Peyton Manning or Flynn). It ended with Miami coming up empty-handed at both. The Dolphins also gutted the roster by trading Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall for pennies on the dollar and cutting leading tackler and safety Yeremiah Bell. Miami looks like a team that is not only rebuilding, but tearing down the walls from within thanks to head-scratching decisions. The draft remains, but the Dolphins appear hard-pressed to better last year's record of 6-10. An 8-8 season would be considered a big upset with the way this roster currently stands. Perhaps one of the biggest mistakes Dolphins ownership made this offseason was selling their fans on false hopes and empty promises. Ross has very deep pockets and wanted to make a splash. But all we've seen is belly flops. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/40032/dolphins-better-be-right-with-matt-flynn

Yep...a receiver that dropped critical tds and the reason tight ends ripped through our secondary...I think this is actually addition by subtraction..bell would be a great safety in the 70s and 80s,but this is a passing league now...that makes you feel better?

Legit criticisms to be found, absolutely.

But we're in trouble because we didn't land Jeff "5 winning seasons in 18 years" Fisher?

Yeah, no.

I had never even heard of James Walker until about 3 weeks ago. Everything I have read of his is negative towards the Dolphins, must be a regular here at Finheaven.

San Diego loses it's #1 Wr and Tolbert was offered more money by the Chargers and he still chose the Panthers over them (who have a plethora of running backs.) They were sure to fire their HC, but did not. So why isn't the sky falling in San Diego? Why is it that nobody wants to go there? Why is it only in Miami?

Fisher is overrated and Bell was being overpaid. Not getting Fisher and cutting Bell are actually two bright spots in the off-season so far.

This happens every year. They get rid of top players that fans praise and as soon as they get cut or traded it's, good riddance they were no good anyway. Brandon dropsy Marshall? Better than any other receiver we have had over the years. When was the last receiver this team has had that has had 1000 yd seasons? This is the first I have even heard that they cut Bell. This just makes things even worse, IMHO. This team is tearing down rather than building up and it's time people wake up and realize it. I'm fine with Moore starting but if he doesn't have an elite receiver to throw too what good is it. So what do they do now with the first round, get a qb or get a wr. Who is going to replace Bell and how long is it going to take to get the secondary back in sync. This off season sucks big time so far.

Article is fair...

But people still gonna try to spin the facts right? So creating holes is the newest way of moving forward??? That what we selling in here??? Didn't need a number one receiver few weeks ago... Now we do... Safety was question mark and now it is a glaring hole... Tell me how addition by subtraction is supposed to work when there is no depth.

Suddenly Brandon 'dropsy' Marshall's role in the *ahem* 'emergence' of Moore in the last half of the season is conveniently ignored??? what about the mismatches he creates by just being on the field??? Nah the spin doctors are right... he is expendable :bobdole: Who needs a true number one nowadays right?

This is a tear down and the last guy I would want in charge of it is Jeff Freaking Ireland... I wouldn't want him to build the foundation for a doll house.

Because Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates are good.

Ireland: Hey Philbin, OK, we went through the motions with Manning for our owner and the fans, (even though he told us he wasn't interested, but Ross made us call Danny to get Peyton to give us a courtesy visit). So now that that's finally behind us, tell me the truth- what do you think of Flynn.

Philbin: That dumbass? No way am I willing to bet my career on him. He could be a good practice qb to help teach everyone the system faster, but only if we can get him cheap.

Ireland: OK, we'll bring him down and see if he'll give us a discount to be with you in the system he knows. But he's not our future. We already decided Alex Smith isn't any upgrade. Have to admit, it's kind of fun driving up his price for Harbaugh after the mess he caused us last year! But he's not it. Tebow's physical value for a 5th is there, but not worth the chaos. We'll grab Garrard as a veteran fall-back to Moore. So Mike, tell me again about Tannehill?

Sherman: Like I've been telling you all along, he's the guy! I know him inside and out, I know this league and this game, and trust me, he's the next elite franchise qb. Let them fight over Luck and RG3, Tannehill's the guy! That's why we got those 2 #3's for Marshall, so we could trade up to get him if we need to. (And wait until those failed drug tests on Marshall come down, then people will understand). Once we get him, and we manage the rest of the draft and free agents like we talked about, then people will get it. After all, we can't acquire players and offer contracts based on what the fans think we should do every second! Ha ha ha!

Ireland : Ha ha ha! Can you imagine if we just knee-jerk reacted and overpayed for hype and made all the moves the fans wanted! Ha ha ha!

Ireland, Philbin and Sherman: Ha ha ha!
