I think on defense, the team has some really good and exciting youth development going on especially from last year’s draft . Players like Walt Aikens and DE Terrence Fede, Jordan Tripp, Anthony Johnson and Chris McCain are expected to step up and contribute. Coupled with Jenkins, the youthful defense is going to be great for years to come.
The offense, on the other hand needs Closure of some sort. Year after year the team is always missing something somewhere. Last year, it was big red zone target and terrible OLine. Year before, no running game and also offensive line. Year before that, no receivers. And so forth. The team just can’t seem to put together a good offense draft. This year should be different, we’ve had great defensive offseason and we must end it with a great offensive draft to bring a superb offseason to a close.
Next question: How do you build the offense? For starters, a better and stronger Oline that will help keep Tannehill upright will be good. Need- a guard. The run game needs to be more effective especially in short yardage situation. Need – a big back. Finally, it is imperative that the receiving corps must include a red zone target.
Currently, Miami has six draft choices, if no trades Miami should use their first round pick, number 14 overall, on talented wideout. Any of the top 5 would do, preferably Devante Parker. He will be an icing on the cake for this team right now with those other three WRs doing underneath stuffs. In the second round, Miami should invest in OG or a tackle that could also play guard. AJ Cann or Tre Jackson would be great. To complete the offense, in the fourth-round, Miami must find a big bruising back in the likes like a Jeremy Langford or David Johnson.
Any draft that does not address these apparent needs on offense will be a total failure and would live the season imperiled. God help us.
