Consider this, since 2004; Miami has had 7 coaches and 4 GMs. And every new coach and GM hired has tried to practically rebuild the team for one reason or another. Wannstedt leaves and Saban rebuilds. Saban leaves and Cameron rebuilds. Saban leaves and Parcells rebuilds. Parcells leaves and Ireland re-tools. Sparano leaves and Philbin and Ireland start to rebuild. Then Ireland leaves and Dennis Hickey starts to rebuild. Who knows who's coming or going next.

The problems with this are:
A, there is no continuity from season to season.
B, there is no culture and most importantly,
C, no set plan to get things moving.

And now all these usually lead to the bigger a problem --how to rebuild. In the first year or two the rebuilder usually overturns the roster and builds the team through the draft or draft the best players available and get playmakers on your team. The first is the route that most teams go that includes our beloved Dolphins. It's my opinion that this approach is dangerous because it leaves you in a position of reaching for players that may be available later, or passing up on great talent in another position just to fill a current need with a player that may or may not pan out.

As that tends to leave you on the outside looking in for an actual playmaker. You don’t draft every single year for BPA at a position of need. You have to find “Play Makers”. This team needs “play makers” on all sides of the ball. Constant drafting for needs is the main reason this team is where it is right now. The great Don Shula couldn’t coach this team to the playoffs, hell you could dig up Lombardy and the result would be the same. You need play makers more than you need great or good coaches. A wise man once said “you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken …. “, you get the point.

Look at the whole team, this is the first time in my 31 years of being a Dolphins fan that I did not see a touchdown pass of over 30 yards. No running score over 30, I don’t even recall a 20 yards td run. No Punt return to the house, no KO returns to the house seriously? We’re lucky we are 7-7!

And here is the 700 post about the same subject over the last two days. Please come up with something original because the board is littered with the same subject. Some posters here just need to start their own thread. Please dude

I guess you missed Sunday's game. lol

What we really need is a much better Oline. Preferably 2 quality starters at OG.

Look at Dallas. Tons of play makers for years but they couldn't get better than 8-8. They have a great o-line now and are tearing it up. Atlanta is another example. They used to have a great oline and were doing very well. Even before Julio got there they were 11-5, 9-7, and 13-3.

Cliche to say but the game is won in the trenches.

P.S. Also need a new HC

Dallas ain't doing **** in the playoffs, if they even get there, and I believe this Colts game is an absolute must win for them, and Romo is on his last legs. Not a team I want to copy.

Dallas has winton, dez, a nasty rb, and romo, like him or not he's a guy that has HOF numbers in reg season. We still need a few pieces.

Actually, I've seen very few posts recognizing that, although none of us are thrilled with Philbin, we have greater needs as a team right now. Do we really want to recycle this team AGAIN?

Sure, we could find many reasons our coaching staff do not deserves to run our team; but, what we really need are more play makers and quality depth across the board. That should be the most valuable lesson we learned this season.

We need both. But a new coach is a necessary first step, and one that can be taken with one move.

How many subjects are there that haven't been beaten to death. The OP has a right to post his mind and share his feelings and thoughts...it's a forum. if you don't want to contribute then don't but to knock a fellow fan for giving his peace of mind....c'mon man you're better than that.

You're right, everyone has a right to post their peace of mind, but why not do it in one of the thousands of threads here that have already been posted here? No disrespect to the OP, just in a terrible mood and came here to read something original and it's just all the same crap I've been reading since Sunday. I get it, we need new coaching and playmakers. Sorry guys, peace

Preach on brother!!! This team needs serious "trench" rebuilding . Focusing on the two lines...overall defense and special teams....everything else will come.

I disagree, though, if you think the coaching staff we have is the answer. The game planning, play calling and overall game management is not what any team needs to stay on point. We do need a head coach that exhibits some life and shows some guts. We need coaches that are able to take the players they have and make them better. We need coaches who are not afraid to sit a player down if they are continually failing to do their job regardless of their "cap hit"...the "next player up" due to injuries or lack of production from a starter needs to be ready to take the field...those players should be salivating at a chance to play, a chance to stay on the field....a chance to unseat the starters. Having a team filled with aggressively competitive players only makes us better overall. We need coaches that teach it, preach it ...walk it talk it.....I have not seen that kind of energy on our sidelines for quite some time.

It's true...sometimes adding onto a thread that is long isn't as gratifying as seeing your very own post and having fellow fans respond to it especially to newer posters like me.

Sorry to hear about your mood...love your input

You're absolutely right, but the truth is that Dallas also has an ELITE wide receiver in Dez Bryant -- one of the very best in the game. They also have Jason Witten, who is head and shoulders better than any TE we have on our roster.

And I like Lamar Miller and Ryan Tannehill, but Demarco > Miller, and Romo > Tannehill (at least for now :) ).

You need good blocking and playmakers. Right now, we have one guy who could be considered a playmaker (Mike Wallace) and no blocking.
