If our afc east rivials focus their needs on defense then Miami better focus on offense for two reasons.
1. to get our team to where we can score more then 14 lousy points and to use it as our best defense. because the defense wins championships is crap and if our offense only scores 14 points a game next year then everyone can count on having a losing season.

2. the next reason for upgrading our offense if our rivials focus on defense ,is if we can keep our defense off the field our defense will improve on that basis alone. ( JUST REMEMBER THE JIMMY AND WANNY YEARS for a reference )

If the afc east teams go offense then miami should go defense and special teams but miami really needs to then focus on offense the following year.

for the last eight years the dolphin fans have been saying draft defense .

remind me again why every year the topic is draft linemen, linebackers .

I hope to God we either bring in a big league wr in f/a or draft one early.
I think its time to add a defensive end if we must draft defense.

I will accept a chad johnson in f/a and then draft 2 dts and a cb but we should use f/a to address some of our needs because we are not the pats where they get 1st draft picks like candy.

What happens if the AFC East teams focus on both offense and defense should we concentrate on Special Teams.

I think the other teams are trying to focus on getting better and winning a superbowl. I think we should do the same, it just so happens one of the best strategies for that is to improve your Lines and play sound defense.
 
your right 3rd and inches and i wont object to drafting 2 defensive tackles and another ot like michael ohre .

the concern i have had is it just seems like the offensive playmakers are gone now and i just dont see the need in drafting 3 or 4 linebackers .
i wont really object if we could land a big and fast cb or de with our first two picks .
Inches , I was kidding around about us always drafting linebackers but still i keep having Eddie moore popping up in my head and i am scared stiff .
 
Defence wins titles as do the trenches on both sides of the ball. I would love to get that shut down corner from Oakland to help us beat NE. But i trust in Bill and company and just will wait and see what happens.

1) because for over 10 years miami neglected the lines on both sides of the ball
2) And this FO knows that it wouldnt matter if you scored 40 points on offense if you cant stop the run, the other team will score 41.
3) I dont believe there is any fans left that want to go through another year screaming at their TV

Very unlikely we go offense in the 1st no matter what the rest of the AFC east does. We had a non-existant pass rush and sub-par linebacking play which is a big fat no no in the 3-4. I hope we do improve the offense but it will be through FA(mostly.) We're drafting heavy on the defensive side of the ball it's almost a forgone conclusion.

We need 2 things: An offensive line that allows you to punch it in when close and a fast, tall WR. We avg. 21.6 points (not 14).
The world champion Steelers ranked 20th in scoring (Fins were 21st) this year. I guess defense does win championships.

Yeah, but our DC is not anywhere close in comparison to theirs. Paz has no creativity in his schemes and to be effective in the 3-4, you have to be creative.

Besides the 06-07 Colts you'd have to go all the way back to 00' to find a predominatly offensive oriented team that won the title (the St. Louis Rams)

Defense does, more times than not, win championships.

That's not to say that you should neglect the offense, but Miami hasn't since BP arrived. Our OL has been gradually improved, we've added a starting caliber QB, picked up Bess(undrafted) and he's been great, traded for a TE that can block and catch. Developed Ginn, developed Camarillo, all in one season. We can continue to improve our offense without having to draft it.

You know what? I think that he has a good point though. Last year we did improve our Lines and played sound defense. So it would make sense to now improve our Offense.

He saying do the opposite of what our division opponents are doing, meaning if they go defense we should go offense but if they go offense we should go defense.

I'm saying get the defense corrected, we need a pass rush and if Crowder is not signed we have a need for two ILB's.

I always want to upgrade the offense but I have also always felt you need to have the best oline you can and I think ours could be improved alittle.
 
i am cool with defense as long as we do not draft another jamar fletcher, i.e. wanstache when the whole afc east was going offense

You are right when our defense was on the field it sounded just like defense- unfortunatly sounding like defense didnt stop us from embarassing ourselves when we were on the field trying to defend the run.

By the way you left the "ed" of the word sound- the way you wrote it, it made it sound like we played good defense :lol: And we dont want to give anyone the wrong idea
