There’s a glass of coffee half-full/half-empty question to ask, as it pertains to the Dolphins having Laremy Tunsil land in their laps last night.

On one hand, they thought they acquired the best player in the draft. On the other, the Dolphins think the best player in the draft is a guard, at least for now.

For now, their plan is to use Tunsil at guard, assuming left tackle Branden Albert and right tackle Ja’Wuan James stay healthy. That’s not safe to assume though, and Tunsil will ostensibly take over for the 31-year-old Albert at some point.

But starting him inside helps shore up one of the Dolphins’ weakest spots, and buys him some time to acclimate to the NFL.

I see nothing wrong with this at all. If we can't go left behind Albert Tunsil and Pouncey we need to be in the CFL.

He's a better pass blocker than run blocker, based off the scouting reports I've read.

NFL.com draft profile:

More of a finesse run blocker than drive blocker. Great feet don't come with powerful leg drive.

Rather groom him at LT and shift Albert inside.

nothing they say now matters. what matters is what happens on the field. i predict LT tunsil, LG albert, c pouncey, rg bushrod, rt james

Typical Miami. First can he play the guard position? I'm just tired of us taking players from there natural position to play another spot. Hope all works out.

Watching his highlights it seems apparent to me that he's an exceptional pass protector. However, I definitely don't see the mauler in the run game. That maybe okay for our team as we need #1 to keep the QB upright.

Tunsil needs to be the LT from the start. Either Albert moves to LG or you try and trade him if he is unwilling to do that.

No way he gets kicked inside. Albert will. Even miami isn't that stupid

I could see Albert protesting if he was a soon to be FA and was lining up for a big pay day.
However, he got his big payday from us, and isn't in the position to get another one, if released today. He'll still get the same paycheck at LG if he accepts the move.

you guys dont seem to remember how VOCAL Albert was in KC when they drafted....i forgot his name) first over all,

he wants things his way, and I think he would rather Play LT than take the 8M(i think thats the number) to play Guard

This pick allows Miami to play Bushrod at guard and groom Tunsil for LT. My concern with Bushrod at G has always been that he should not also be considered the backup LT.

Start the year with:

Albert-Bushrod-Pouncey-Turner-James

Backups are Tunsil, Urbik, McClendon, Young, Douglas

Bye bye - Thomas and all the other scrubs

Only other changes to consider:

1. Is McClendon expendable because Urbik can play center?
2. Can Tunsil play RT also and make Young expendable?
3. Should we start Urbik and make Bushrod the backup swing tackle?
4. How soon can we cut Dallas Thomas?
