:dolphins:

"2. Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins consistently finish in the top 10 in special teams DVOA, thanks largely to mistake-free coverage teams. The punt coverage team allowed just 4.9 yards per return (third best in the NFL), and helped Donnie Jones to lead the league with 39.3 net yards per punt. Olindo Mare bounced back from an injury-marred 2004 season to convert 83.3 percent of his field goals, 7-of-8 from beyond 40 yards, while booming 16 touchbacks on kickoffs. Return man Wes Welker is nothing special, though he doubles as an emergency kicker. Rookies Devin Aromashodu and Marcus Vick will challenge Welker. Vick has received an extensive tryout as a kick returner in camp."

thats a suprise... but i disagree that Welker isnt anything special.... he's a damn good return man if you ask me. Almost always makes the first guy miss and always a threat to take one back. His best returns seem to come late in tight games as well.

"Welker isnt anything special"

I think he is , has more heart then most players on the team

I think they're saying that Welker is not a gamebreaker. I agree with that. He's a solid fundamental returner: he fields the ball well, he makes good decisions on fielding the ball or letting it go, he doesn't fumble very often. He can make people miss and he has good speed but teams don't kick away from him. He's a good returnman but he certainly isn't anything special.

As far as the Welker comment, maybe it's refering to his kickoff returns vs. punt return ability??

Wes Welker has been one of the main subjects talked about in this board. Sheesh, so much attention for our #3 receiver.

Welker can kick too!?!?!? No way somebody like that should have to make excuses. No way a player that versatile and that willing to play for the TEAM is not a desirable and necessary part of a winning team. No way he gets traded. NO.F.IN.WAY.

????? U didnt see 2 seasons ago when mare got hurt Welker stepped in and nailed a Fg (or was it a extra point?) i forget, but i think it was a Field goal liek 30 some yards away
