Miami reaches out to OT Jedrick Willis

The funny part about this is Smith is by far the best of the current backups. He moves well and is good against the run & pass ... was just super green coming out. They stashed him last year because they didn't want to lose him.

Willis would be fine tackle depth ... def worth a look.

I'm just crossing fingers and toes we don't see Paul missing & lunging at guys all season. Nimble feet my ass ...
He has the feet, he glides when he moves....... he was raw as hell last year.

Grier is hoping that these vets out there are getting desperate enough to agree to the low ball offers he has on the table. We know the CB from Buffalo got an offer. Wouldn't surprise me if a vet guard also has an offer.
I haven’t heard that we’d brought one in?

Most certainly balance & coordination issues. Doesn't quite align with the nimble feet stuff I've seen posted here frequently.
The skills percentiles that for OL mobility I think we should most consider are the 10, shuttle, and cone. Paul was in the 80th percentile for the 10, 59th for shuttle, and 69th for the cone. So, I guess we should hope his issues as a rookie were getting up to par mentally, because physically he's above average in how he moves.

A lot of people forget that our OL coach has literally turned lemons into lemonade. In 2022, the starting OL, was lightyears better than anyone thought they could be and was actually pretty far above average until injuries decimated them. Butch, when his starters are healthy, has done well. Even with Eich in the mix. Maybe he can get something out of this guy?

He this guy been that bad or has he just been disappointing because he was a top 10 pick?

He’s been an average pass pro and below average run blocking T. He hyperextended his knee last year and “made a business decision” to go on IR. No surgery or serious injury that I can find. I think he just hasn’t been happy in Cleveland and was trying to get traded. That’s just my gut feeling. Hopefully he can come here and be a reliable player. He has the skills and is young.

Not sure if go that far. He has turned lemons into.....lemons.

Or you could argue it is out of the Eagles playbook, They took a T drafted high FROM the Jets who had lots of injuries but was still young and talented and turned him into a pro-Bowl RG.

I honestly don't see the harm in kicking the tires on a guy who has shown he can play in this league. I know it's been rough the last 2 years but maybe a change of scenery and a chance to show the whole league he can still play will be what Wills needs.
There's no harm in this move, but the lack of other multiple moves that aren't hops and prayers to shore up positions means the line is a string and prayer from being a disaster.. again.

Can't hurt to kick the tires. At this point, we don't need someone to be great. We just need someone to be good. We can find someone to be playable, can't we?

In 2022, Butch Barry was with Denver. We had Matt Applebaum. He was fired after the season. The experts among the fan base were begging for us to hire Mike Munchak. They were apoplectic when Barry was hired.

Posted this in offseason thread, weird though he played RT at Bama but has only played LT for the browns and has been subpar. Wondering if a move back to RT would get his career on the right track. He went 10th overall was a pretty big prospect coming out.
Was a really good RT.. thought the move to LT would be dumb for him but I forgot the reason
