Miami running game has been doing well. 5.2 yds/carry, 137 yds/game.

Season Stats Updated, to include game #3..

- Rushing yds per game, we're ranked #6

- Yards per carry, we're ranked #1 (which is quite remarkable, since we haven't had any long runs yet).

This team has failed Lamar Miller far more than the other way around. As our "starter" last year he got twenties carries in a game a single time, and today when he is averaging nearly twice the yards per carry as the the passing game is getting, he gets the ball 8 times in the second half despite it being a one score game. This horrible coaching staff abandons the run if they have 4 successful plays and one bad one, but will pass more than twice as much as it runs if 1 out of 4 passing plays is successful.

We spend all season finding a running game only to lose our passing game in the process. Fantastic.

The passing game under Lazor has been a disaster. Tannehill has regressed, there are too many drops, Clay has been non-existent, just horrible all around.

Remember when the Tannehill groupies said with better protection, and a better run game, Tannehill would take off and be just as good as Russel Wilson?

That was funny.

But, all Tannehill needed was a good OL and a running game and he would be just as good as Russell Wilson!!!!!!!

Our defense was 8th in the league in scoring last year and the only thing holding us back was that damn OL and lack of running game. You can clearly see our offense LIGHTS IT UP with a running game and OL. Tannehill is not a sack taker and he really threatens the whole field when the running game is working!!

We never had a passing game. We have a big time player in Wallace and some decent depth at WR. We now have a running game and a decent OL. We STILL have no passing game. We never had one and we still do not. This is because we HAVE NO QB!!!!!!!

Well, we have a decent QB, but he is sitting the bench behind Driskelhill.

It's quite amazing how effective the running game has been, versus how anemic the passing game has been.

Through 3 games:

Running:

Lamar Miller: 37/213 - 5.8 yds/carry

Knowshon Moreno: 25/138 - 5.5 yds/carry

Passing:

Ryan Tannehill 70/124/624 - 5.0 yds/pass attempt

In the modern NFL, it's extremely rare that the average yds/rush is greater than the average yds/pass attempt.

It really is a special brand of suck. It takes some serious ineptitude to pull this off. Im not even sure John Beck could do it.

I updated the stats above, to include game 3..

In terms of yards per carry, Miami Dolphins are ranked #1

So I see the Phins rushing game is ranked just ahead of Seattle's.

How is Russell Wilson doing this year? Have they beaten any good teams? How many points are they scoring?

I guess he must have better receivers than Tannehill.

And imagine if we were able to stretch out defenses with the deep ball, and give the running game even more room to operate.

silver linings are great if we are critiquing after a win....if not then they are worthless consolation prizes....

It's not a consolation prize.

It's for identifying the current strengths & weaknesses of the team, and identifying why the offense has been so anemic (Tannehill).

It's also useful for showing that after a 1-2 start, fans shouldn't be calling for Miami to tank the season. With a good running game, simply adding deep ball chemistry with Mike Wallace could open things up, and turn this entire offense around.
