Coach Tony Sparano said Tuesday that Thomas has done enough to be deemed the solution at right guard. That ends speculation about former All-Pro LeCharles Bentley, who asked Miami and other teams for an incentive-laden deal after missing two years with injury. (Miami declined.)

Man, Im so happy we found Donald Thomas.

Donald Thomas better represent he is sporting #66 Old School Wildcat Larry Little

Bentley needs to sign a smaller contract and prove he is recovered from his serious injuries. Until he does that he won't be in the NFL anywhere.

Smart, Smart move!!! I love what these guys are doing. In the past we would've caved in an given up a 2nd rd. pick and probably more to get him. Now we have a young guy who is looking great so far and is costing the team practically nothing by comparison and we don't have to lose future picks, which we'll use for more and better building blocks, so to speak, for our future. That's how you build a team for long term success IMO.

We've been down long enough that I feel it's our time to "rise from the ashes". Watch out!!!!

Not to dim the lights on Thomas' performance so far. He's been great - a 6th rounder who was sort of neglected (as he carried a 3rd/4th round grade into the draft) and turns the light on to be an NFL starter after a year of playing college ball.

One must note though that Shawn Murphy, our 4th round pick (who carried a 7th/UDFA grade whom we traded a 7th rounder to move up 5 spots to select) is merely going to be a backup and most likely, an inactive for the 2008 season. Just some ying to the yang of Thomas' early success.

see what happens when a team has people who know how to scout, something we have been missing since jimmy left us

I will do you one better.

See what hapens when a team that has people who know how to scout offensive players- something we have been missing since Shula left us.

:woot:

Oh come on.. We have future starters in Long, Henne, Langford, Merling, Thomas (and a backup in Parmele), these were all "hits"... And you are bringing up one potential miss in the first 6 rounds? Oh my, do you remember the Wanny era when we were lucky to hit on ONE guy in an ENTIRE draft ??

If we keep batting like we did in the last draft, you can have a super bowl contender on your hands in a relatively short period of time.. It's rare to hit on that many players in a draft. Check it out.

I want to be optimistic but your unbridled enthusiasm is naivety at its best. How do you know those players are hits until they play an actual game? Lets leave time until we judge. I want us to be successful but lets not get ahead of ourselves. People said the same thing about Saban's last draft and look how that turned out.

Sweet Jesus.. Matt Roth and a large majority of those Saban drafts never EVER looked close to this good this early... It's not only how strong and well these guys play, but their work ethic, character and commitment that's so encouraging..

It's too obvious. There's nothing naive about it.

I am usually skeptic about this team, as I have seen it all.. I picked the fins to go 4-12 before last season started, and I was called all kinds of things, including "how can you be a fan" etc.. I was one of only a couple of people who picked such a low record for us before last season started.... I just saw the team for what it was.. And I see these young guys we just drafted for what they are.. Damn good football players.
