The staggering money for Ndamukong Suh wasn't the only big play theDolphins attempted over the weekend. They also were in the mix to sign Randall Cobb with a deal that was "significanty more,'' than the four-year, $40 million for which the wide receiver re-signed with Green Bay, a source said. The difference was the deal was tilted to being back-loaded so the final years of the contract paid the most money. That would have given the Dolphins time to get their salary-cap structure in order and, perhaps, not be forced to release receiver Mike Wallace this upcoming season for financial reasons. Ultimately, Cobb opted to stay in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers and an offense he knows. As it is, the Dolphins will be looking at free agents like Andre Johnson, Eddie Royal andNate Washington as well as to the top receivers in the draft.

Could you imagine if we signed Suh AND Cobb yesterday? Some of us might have had a heart attack

that's a shocker for me and speaks to a they want mike wallace gone

Yeah crazy, but idk if I'd like Cobb at that price.

We have a slot WR & one that can develop to become really good.

I think they already have a plan in place to get rid of wallace, just a matter of time.

I could see Cecil coming to Miami, and than drafting a WR.

Actually, it speaks to what we all are thinking . . . . they wanted Cobb and Mike Wallace at WR in 2015. They wanted the Cobb contract backloaded so they can make a run this year and then cut Wallace in 2016 when it is more cap friendly and have Cobb be the #1 in 2016.

Cobb getting the same contract as Wallace is kind of scary. He doesn't strike me as that #1 option . . . he's a great player though.

Me either. He's also benefited from Nelson & some guy named Aaron Rodgers.

yeah maybe...theres no doubt in my mind wallace is gone after this year at the latest...

not hard to see where cobb would pass on a back loaded contract though...that's a tough sell for anyone

Woulda been sick but we'd have all our money tied up in Suh, Wallace, Cobb, Albert and soon Tanny. 5 guys would be making half the salary cap. I'm worried about our salary cap. We're going to have a bunch of mediocre guys on this team with a few studs. Washington proved that isn't a good formula. Don't get me wrong I think Suh is a stud but our LB'S and secondary, outside of Grimes, are garbage. Teams like NE will double Suh, have a RB double wake and throw the ball all day on us. We need a good ILB and CB opposite Grimes. I'd love to get Waynes in the 1st and trade up to late 1st Rd for Kendricks. That would hopefully fill 2 big holes defensively. Then hope Nick O'Leary is there in the 3rd. He's a Clay Clone.

Big WR at #14. Sign me up!!

I honestly don't think you can double Suh.

Dallas couldn't & they have the best OLINE in football.

Phinatic, you are a big Cooper fan aren't you! I agree, would be great if Cooper were on his favorite NFL team.

It looks like one half of your prediction is coming through with Wallace staying, I anxiously await to see if the Cooper deal happems!

I think it comes down to Cobb having to make a decision between Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Tannehill. Is Tannehill going to make him "as relevant" as Aaron Rodgers did so at the end of the 4 years, when he is 28, he can grab another big contract? He is going to have a chance to make the Super Bowl every year in Green Bay, more exposure, more prime time . . . . he isn't guaranteed that in Miami. At his age, it's a smart move to stick with the best QB in the game and put 4 years/40 million in your pocket in the process.

He could come here and be great with Ryan too, but the risk factor is definitely higher.
