Haloit Ngata. According to the Herald:

"The Dolphins tried to trade up and talked to the St. Louis Rams when they were sitting at No. 11 and the Cleveland Browns when they were offering up the No. 12 slot.

The Dolphins would have taken Oregon defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, who went to Baltimore in that 12th spot.

The Dolphins also considered trading down but didn't because, Saban said, draft picks offered for next year would count for less than half the proper return for the pick, according to the draft value chart."

Yeah, Saban tried to trade up to 11, then 12. He wanted Wimbley or Ngata.

Thank god we didn't land Ngata.....way too lazy, no explosion and zippo speed on his game clips.

:rolleyes2

I don't think that is shocking at all. If you guys haven't noticed, the only DT signed past this year according to the cap page is Manny Wright. I do believe Vickerson would be an exclusive rights free agent if he works out, but that still leaves us thin.

(I know Carter can be said to be a DT, but he is listed as an end)

Max Jean Gilles, Gabe Watson, LeKevin Smith, Mark Anderson, Stanley McClover, Parys Haralson, Rob Ninkovich, Ko Simpson, Pat Watkins, Montavious Stanley, Andre Hall, Omar Jacobs, Kevin Boothe, Spencer Havner.

They also wanted Ernie Sims.

Who is they?

I don't get why any team would want a college player who has had 5 (and many think that is an under-reported number) concussions and who might be out of the game on the next one for all we know.

They - Miami.

6 concussions. A lot of teams wanted him. He, along with Ngata and Wimbley were the 3 guys we wanted.

Jean Gilles in the 4th round? Did you ever think that was possible?

I argued that 16 was too high for him but I never saw this coming, is it the weight issue Boomer?

Nah never. You know as well as any how I feel about him. I STILL think he's a first rounder and I think he's a better player than Davin Joseph.

I think weight and there were some concerns about atitude in terms of laziness and PFW said teams had some concerns about how he would react with a contract and money in his pocket and whether, once he'd made it, he'd just play down, happy in the knowledge he'd got paid.

Who knows.
