I know it is only two weeks into the season, but the Miami Defense is ranked #6 overall in yardage. Our defense has given up only 256.5 yards/game.

One of the areas of concern going into the season was the secondary. Based on the first two games, Miami has improved statistically and is ranked the #5 pass defense or yielding only 131 yards/game.

Rushing Defense: #20 or 125.5 yards/game

Bad News - Offensive Running Game

The team's main weakness has been the offense. Here are some offensive statistics that we need to improve on:
  • #21 in Total Offense = 280 yards/game
  • #14 Passing = 215 yards/game
  • #29 Running = 65 yards/game
  • #30 Rushing Attempts = 19 rushes/game
Miami needs to dratistically improve on the running game. Only Oakland, Detroit and Tampa are worse in rushing yards/game.

Keys to Victory: Focus on running the ball more often.

Wow....I would have never believed we were #6 in defense. I agree completely on the running game...MM needs to settle down and give Ronnie more touches....

I really believe our defense would be one or two spots higher if they weren't out on the field (meaning, more rested) all the time. Running the ball will really help on that front, and now that we have a back-up, there really is no reason to not run the ball. If we act like Minnesota and stick with the run even with mediocre yardage, we'll win games.

good post.. but doesnt help erase that nasty zero win thing....

well i knew our d was doing a good job, i thought MAYBE top ten but this is a nice surprise to see us at 6, lets se our offense get that high and we'll win some games.

Maybe so but my biggest issue with them is that they are not causing any turnovers, no INTS this season, and that is a offensive killer when a D causes them to turn the ball over. After all how many yards did we give up against Buffalo and what was the result?

And that is killing my FFL team :D

What's surprising to me is that our pass defense is ranked way higher than our run defense. Going into this season, especially after the acquisition of Big Daddy, I thougth we would have a killer run "D" - but not so up to this point.

if mularkey abandons the run again this week i will explode, we have a running back that runs hard, makes his own yards and is a big time playmaker and we dont use him for some odd reason

you cant run the ball when you are losing

True to form, he does pull some bonehead plays and he hasn't realized that yopu need to get your regular plays working before you throw in the tricks.

Sure you can, but you have to mix it up. If you think you can just pass, pass, pass - what defensive unit do you think you will psych? None. Now, before you go off, you can't do jack if you are 16 points down with only 4 minutes left and you don't have a QB who is used ot his receivers and an O-line that isn't having a cranial-rectal-inversion every play.:shakeno:
