and the question was... wich two team do not belong to that list

green bay is impressive to be on the list. the line is one of the worst in the league nowadays. favre is pretty good i guess

That list isn't any mistake. Right now if I had to rank quarterbacks that are the best at avoiding a sack, I would put it at Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Gus Frerotte, and Drew Brees. Yes, Gus belongs on that list. He has pretty impressive pocket awareness, and pocket awareness is always the key ability, NOT mobility.

I'm one of those that says sack statistics are usually far more evident of what is going on with the quarterback than what is going on with the offensive line. It is almost like a controlled variable at times, where a QB can really decide from year to year whether he wants to stand in the pocket longer and make big throws under fire, or whether he wants to get rid of the ball quickly to avoid negative yardage. Favre would be an excellent example of this. Is the line right now better than he had earlier in his career? No, I think we all agree that Green Bay's line is really struggling this season. What has changed is that Favre was taking more chances earlier in his career, in order to make big plays. Now, he's erring on the side of avoiding negative yardage, avoiding bad plays, and letting the offense work. I mean, last year their OL was far better than this year, yet Favre had about the same sack stats last year as he does this year. What does that tell you? It tells me that quarterbacks and coordinators can sort of control how many sacks they take at an aggregate level, given how much protection the OL is giving you.

This is why I'm wary of David Carr. He and his coordinator have the ability to not end up taking as many sacks as they do. They have not followed up on that. If I'm a GM, I want to know why, before I make any kind of commitment to Carr whatsoever.

We're top 5 in YPC, as well. Out of the three major measures(That I just made up) of an O-line, we've got high YPC, low sacks allowed, but I'd imagine more false start penalties then most, if not all teams in the league.

From my vantage point, it looks like Hudson Houck has done a fantastic job with the O-line. Last season, off the top of my head, we were 31st in sacks allowed, and something like 31st or 32nd in yards per carry.

Some of the change has no doubt come from going from having Sammy Morris as our best RB to having Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. We went from having a guy who has spent most of his career as a special teams player/recieving fullback(Although I like Morris alot) to a #2 in the draft pick and a former 1800+ yard runner who appears to retain some of his old playmaking ability.

First off I'm not hating on Gus but the game against the Pats he had no hurries, no hits, and no sacks. This O line is finally back to the way they where 7 years ago.

Probably b/c our offense is hardly ever on the field...lol

but seriously our Oline has been a huge improvement... imagine if we actually had better players on the oline... wow..

Yeah those darn False starts do make me :fire: those can and do kill drives. Even our wide recivers are moving early.
