Michael Crabtree has held out waiting for the right deal before. But this time, he has the benefit of choices.
According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea, the 49ers free agent wide receiver is “willing to wait however long it takes” to find the right deal for the coming season.

While that obviously means he hasn’t found the money he’s looking for, there also seems to be a schematic concern. He’d like to get the ball more, and with the 49ers still leaning run and bringing in free agent wideout Torrey Smith, targets might be hard to come by. The 49ers would like to bring him back, and he visited the Dolphins last week but left without a deal. At this stage in the market, it’s unlikely he’s going to find anything to match the $5.3 million per year he was making on his rookie deal. And barring an injury in another camp when OTAs start, it’s hard to imagine the offers are going to get much bigger. But having held out the first month of his rookie season, he’s shown he’s willing to take a stand for what he thinks he’s worth.

i don't blame him and i don't blame miami for taking a wait and see approach here...good on both of them

I figured this was the case. Crabtree's market though is only going to get softer not stronger.

I would get with an emerging QB like RT and innovator like Bill Lazor if I were him.

Probably more Miami's choice than his. He has no chips right now. At least I hope that's it because if he thinks he's gonna get better deals after the draft he's way off. We'll see how it plays out.

Not just Miami's choice, every team's choice.

Crabtree sees Andre Johnson getting $7 million a year in Indy, it must be a tough pill to swallow that he's 7 years younger and is probably only getting offered half of that.

Lots of good WRs coming out again this year. Once the draft is over and teams get their guy he's gonna have no place to go.

Ozzy rules!!

Good. I hope he waits until after Miami has signed a vet and loses whatever interest they have in him. Crabtree is slow. Very slow. Has no explosion and can't separate. He's also become prone to dropping balls that aren't right on him almost negating his large catch radius. Add on his deva like attitude and I'm not sure what the appeal is here

His choice I suppose, if he had A Johnsons genetics and personality he'd be at the 7 to 10 range.Que Sera Sera...

he is a narcissist. what do you expect. he thinks he is better and worth more than he is

Great just what we need, another mike Wallace type.. Over valuing his worth and already demanding the ball more then he deserves.. At first I wanted him but with this kind of attitude it's now a hard pass for me.. Keep that selfishness out of the locker room

a receiver who wants money AND the ball?

no way.

He'll sign somewhere eventually, the initial buzz of free agency has died down so he has nothing to lose by waiting for a team to bump up their offer.

If he had no red flags and there was a huge demand/low supply of WR's out there, then he'd get the $$$. But there are already a number of FA WR's just sitting out there and with the draft coming up with a number of other high talent/low cost flooding the market even more . . . . . . he's only going to see the offers $$$ going down, not up.

I'm really starting to think Jennings or Wayne is the way to go and look at a possible WR in the draft to develop.

Let him take his attitude and injuries somewhere else.

If he wants to bet on himself and come here on a prove it deal then I'm on board. Because frankly he hasn't proven anything besides being a bad draft pick.
