ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (TICKER) -- Michigan and Notre Dame will continue their gridiron rivalry for at least another 25 years.
The football powerhouses guaranteed the long-term future of their nationally renowned series Monday, agreeing to a 20-year contract extension. The new deal, which was jointly announced by both schools, will extend the series through the 2031 season. The current contract was set to expire after the 2011 campaign.
"This is great news that Notre Dame and Michigan will be playing for the next 25 years," Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis said. "As the head coach of Notre Dame and an alumnus of the University, I'm very glad that Kevin White and Bill Martin have maintained this series. This rivalry is good for both schools and college football."
So I guess Michigan isnt off the schedule after all. ND will have a really tough schedule in a few years when they add OU and Rutgers but I'm glad they're still playing Michigan.
