The fact Philbin didn't know may be the worst aspect of this case.
Philbin's handling, or lack thereof, is one of the greatest examples of lack of institutional control we've seen in recent NFL history.

There is something else damning about Philbin. Martin didn't feel comfortable enough telling Philbin what happened when Philbin's slow ass finally got around to fact-finding. That speaks volumes.

Notice how players felt comfortable telling Belichick about the $30,000 dinners.

We're beginning to reach a conclusion that is inescapable. At the end of the season, Philbin has to go.

How can the Dolphins keep a guy as head coach who either covered this up or was clueless?

I don't think they will.
After starting 3-0, is this all really happening at the midseason point? :(

Fire Belichick....he didn't know Hernandez was a mass murderer. He should know every action a player does at all times.

Smh- just fn dumb.

One was happening in his own locker room with his players....the other was a situation outside the team...

Firing Philbin is a little premature. I still think there is a lot more to come out about this story! Be patient.......

How dare you compare the two. The Patriots gave a huge new contract to a murderer and thug and we asked another player to toughen up one of our own and he took it too far.

Belichick is praised and glorified but others want our coach fired.

Damn, you really want the worst for this team. Amazing how much you defend your point to the teeth as long as it hurts the Fins. In case you missed it everything that is still unfolding another Martin and Cog were outside the team.

Exactly. It's unreal

I just want to say I think Philbin should be fired anyway for not being a good coach.

It's funny. from what I understand most players police themselves in the locker room. Hence leadership councils and team captains. They would take concerns to the coaches and management.

If Martin didn't let on to ANYONE he had a problem with Incognito, how was anyone to know or do anything?

Are people supposed to have telepathy to be able to read others minds?

I was depressed at work, my supervisor didn't even notice.

As for all the blame being laid, which may or may not be justified, Martin HAD to have come forward in some respect to let people know. Let ANYONE know. His agent, parents anyone.

It's hard to be guilty of neglect when you were even aware of what you should be tending to.

All I hear is the "layers". Well the layers mean, what exactly did the coaches and management know not know.

We don't know.

Let's wait for all the FACTS to come out.

Hernandez instances were happening outside the building but not outside the team. Let's be clear about that. There is NO WAY others did not know what was going on. He may not have spent all his free time with his teammates but teammates knew what he was up to and there were rumors (investigation pending I believe) that teammates knew of , and spent time at, his flop house (aka stash house)

How was he supposed to know? go clubbing with him? just like someone putting you in jail because your son cursed at someone, please be intelligent about this, this serious business, J Mart should have told someone about this situation and maybe we wouldn't be here today. By him not reporting back to work tells me there is something else going on with him, because they are going to remove the threat and he is still at home. Or do he wants the whole team cleansed.

Blows my mind that the beat writers Armando done printed up this scathing story and he's in the dark just like the rest of us, it's terrible for J-martin but let's get back to football please because this issue is no longer a football issue it's a legal and a social issue between 2 people, and the media is trying to drag everybody into it to keep the story going.

I don't see how philbin gets fired even if he told incognito himself to toughen up Martin. this is everyday nfl stuff. they did it with egnew and john Jerry last year. they took it like men. and to the media guy comparing this to bounty gate, get real . some of you just want our coaches and Ireland gone you will find a narrative that fits that agenda
