Lions | Martz will not take job
Thu, 2 Feb 2006 13:11:06 -0800

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports former NFL coach Mike Martz will not take the job as the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator. "We couldn't come to an agreement on terms," said Martz, who reportedly accepted the job. "I really do feel bad... but we just couldn't get on the same page." Martz said he plans to return to his hometown of San Diego and will sit out the 2006 football season.

Sucks for the Lions fans. They must be pissed right now.

Seems to me that he is asking for the world, or is just one hard guy to get along with.

One more nail in Millen's coffin.

I think there are too many nails already in Millen's coffin. The Lions will do far better without him. I'm just suprised that they haven't realized that yet.

Hmm, just curious is anyone knows if there has been any talks if Martz has been interview by Oakland? I haven't heard anything and as far as I know, Oakland's Head Coach position is still vacant, correct? I think he could really get thier offense going.

Martz interviewed for the Raiders' job last week. However, he then pulled his name out of consideration for that job. Now that he turned down the Lions, I wouldn't be suprised to see his name come up again for the job.

I hear Martz is greedy and arrogant.Yeah he'd fit perfectly with the Raiders system.Al Davis will fire him too in a couple years if he gets this job.

Martz can't want to go to such a lousy organization.
