I've just got to ask, why did Saban hire this guy? The OC's main job is to call plays, which Mularky can't do! Last year he ran a play where there was a direct snap to Roscoe Parrish (who was in the backfield) who through a screen pass (that he lobbed because he has no arm) out to Lee Evans. The whole play was a disaster.

His other gems include refusing to actually competitively go for it on 3rd and long. Instead he would put Shaud f'ing Williams in the game, and run a draw play or throw him a screen.

O, and wait until he plays musical chairs with your OL. I'm sure in due time he will not be pleased with Bennie, and put a tackle in his spot without any practice (did this to Mike Williams last year) causing your QB to get a concussion!

Mularky is a joke! Follow the pattern. He's in Pittsburgh. Offense sucks big time. He leaves, offense actually becomes competitive. Pre-him buffalo has an ok offense, during his era Buffalo has the worst offense in the league.

Mularky will cause you to pull your hair out more than Bennie Anderson.

Mularky wont have Full say in the playcalling, and most of the plays will be from Linehans playbook, Also he will have no say on who goes on the line, Saban is the HC not Mularkey.

why? you havent even given Mike 1 game yet.

Scott was alright with us, but he called some horrible plays alot last year, incase yall forget so quickly.

I have to say that pulling Jeno James on 4th and goal at the 1 did nothing but disrupt the play and keep Ronnie from having a chance to drive his way into the end zone. I hope that call doesn't make it past preseason.

Hmmm...I wonder if the last play of the game where Cleo pitched the ball to Mike Pearson was by design.

1 play...trying something different, players love it....try again.

when you have that QB, you dont throw the ball up long just cause its 3rd and long...most the time i would rather call a draw on 3rd and 30...

his offense sucked in Pitt? wtf? :sidelol:

OK. Now. What have we learned?

Are you F'ing kidding me? Mularkey is a great OC! He was a heck of an OC with Pittsburgh, and he'll be damn good here too. Our offense is now very methodical and we run the ball. Did you hear that? We RUN the ball. Both the Falcons game and the Patriots last year we inside the five, with two RBs that aren't too shabby, but we pass the ball. Scott is in love with throwing the ball. We may not take as many shots down the field this year, but when we do we'll hit them a lot more. I think even Marty Booker in an interview said that this year we'll have a purpose when we go downfield, and not just throwing downfield for the heck of (paraphrase of his words). The OL needs to gel as a unit and something needs to happen at the RG position before we can truly evaluate our offense. Our inability to run the ball limited us some last night, but expect things to get better. We now have an OC that believes in physical football, a mammoth of a QB, a bruising back, a huge OL, two very good FBs, and a TE whose blocking has improved immensely...Are you serious?!? I'll make a prediction that we'll be top 10 in offense right now.

This has to be the best part of your argument. If I recall correctly Mulareky's Pitt Offense was ranked in the top five more than once. Additionally his system made Maddox and Stewart look like perennial Pro Bowlers. That in itself is a masterful feat. The guy was awesome as an OC. Why the hell would he have been offered a HC position if he was a bad coordinator? Doesn't work like that buddy.

Why, because Frankly, Tom Donahoe is a bad GM. Him and Mike Mularky were friends, that is how he got the job.

It is funny that you guys have such blind faith in the guy. But I will give him one thing, he can create some fun gadget plays. He came up with all those ones Pitt runs. However, he gets to far away from the basics. A good portion of his gadgets plays are stupid and will coast you guys games.

You say he will run the ball a lot more. Do you guys remember the comeback game last year? How did that happen? O yes Mularky called a pass on first and goal from the 2 yard line with a 20 point lead.

If Saban has most input you'll be alright, but if Mularky gets a lot of room you will be in trouble. His play calling is downright bad.

And for those saying he had a great offense, I just checked. Yes, the offense was good, his first year there. But by the time it had settled in for his last year, it was horrible, 22nd in the league horrible.

They finished third and fifth in his first two years, and he was only OC for three years. They led the league in rushing in 2001, Kordell Stewart was elected to the Pro Bowl, and Maddox won Comeback Player of the Year. You kidding me or what man?

Let's let him get these play calls out now so Saban can sit down with him before the regular season and show a slide show of plays that he doesn't want run anymore. lol... I think we'll be ok. It is preseason and I haven't seen anything more than a base offense being run. The O-line concerns me more than the playcalling.

I wouldnt mind seeing Norv Turner come back... I think he is a OC genius that got frustrated with Wanny's mentallity and the fact he had players (QB and OLine) that couldnt play..

I remember hearing one of his comments that he had a QB that couldnt throw, so that limited the plays he wanted to call..

have to say i would like to see Pep go deep more...but you never know where the fault would lie in that.....mularky not calling the play, daunte not throwing it, or Saban not wanting him to hold the ball to long and get killed...
