It seems like Nolan is getting a pass around here and he seemed to make no adjustments. I understand he's working with some questionable personnel, but he knew what he was working with going into the game. I also have to think he had some input in personnel.

This is not a thread to bash Nolan, I do think he's going to get things going in the right direction, I hope to see better adjustments during the game.

Nolan should take a fair share of the blame no doubt. Having his guys tip their hand before the snap was something I'd expect from a high school coach. Maybe if we were playing against a Blaine gabbart or something but not a hall of fame qb.

Realistically with the unfathomable hydration issues as well as inexperience of the secondary and obvious conditioning problems, Nolan had nothing left. It was a real disappointment in my book. The guys looked flat, out of shape and not prepared at all. That's 100% coaching.

With the players he has, I don't think there is much he could have done. We simply don't have a good 2nd pass rusher...JT looked done last night...and we have no corner depth.

And what the hell was Merling doing getting as much time as he did??? Seriously that guy needs to hit the pavement...

Thats what the Pats do, they use formations that make you have to show your hand and then he calls which route his WR will run,.....the adjustments I saw Nolan make were putting corners on TE which didnt help because they are so athletic and big and the passes were thrown on time and at the perfect spot.....he deserves as much of the blame and the players themselves but going up against the Pats opeaning day with Belicheat and Brady with a month to prepare.....not many teams are going to stop that offense.....I think the personel is not questionable and this D will bounce back, hell this offense dropped 40+ on the Jets great D last yr.......thats what they do....../

hard to make adjustments when the players are getting faked out of their pants, not tackling, and not getting pressure. i wouldn't be surprised if he dumbed things down in hopes of getting the players on the same page.

I thought Nolan made a few adjustments after halftime, but not that many. I saw a lack of blitzing...What happened to Nolan's blitzing defense???

I thought he was trying to imitate what the Lions did in pre-season week 3. He was trying to get a pass rush with just 4 D-lineman rushing in, but that is not our style. We couldn't get any pressure and Brady had all day at times.

I think the reason we lost last night is the lack of pressure on Brady. Taylor aint getting it done anymore, Wake was held a bunch that was not called (I rewatched a couple series when he was against Solder and Solder had a hold of him often with no calls), and the strength of the team, the DL, got little real pressure. I thought it strange that a couple of times we corner/safety blitzed and Brady threw bad passes, and then we abandoned the tactic. I dont get it!!!

I would like to hear from Nolan himself on this.

Now that I think about it it makes a lot of sense. He thought we could emulate that scheme that worked.

The problem is that the Lions have a monster personnel at the LOS so they can conceivably put pressure with 4. We can't (perhaps not yet) so we should've gone with what we know and works.

What really kills me is the lack of adjustments.

Nolan was clearly out coached. Can't think of any other way to put it.

Couple that with the poor performances.. and you get last nights result.

nolan got destroyed last night...end of story...he was taken out to the woodshed by beli and their oc...the personnel packages the pats presented he had no answer for...none

when you shift into nickle cbs over flexed out te's one on one you obviously have the wrong personnel on the field...
