Goes for it on 4th and inches on his OWN 29 in OT. What a moron Saints stop them and win 26-23

i woulda done the same...youre not gonna contain the saints forever and you have one of the best power backs in the nfl you gotta believe you can pick up a few inches

I think it was the right call. Easy to say now that he's an idiot and that he should of punted, but come on, they were lucky to stop the Saints once. What Mike Smith did is the exact opposite of what Tony Sparano would've done. Mike Smith is the coach of a winning football team because he isn't afraid to take a risk. Not just in game situations, but in the offseason as well. He's not afraid to draft a QB high in the first round and he isn't afraid to make a blockbuster trade to get a playmaker for his offense.

Bottom line is he gets it. You have to take chances in anything you do if you want to be successful. All the greats understand that.

Inner Sparano? He doesn't have the balls to do something like that... Like Hayden Fox said, he would have punted.

tony wouldve punted it if we had the ball on the 50

Tony would have faked trying to go for it on 4th, fail attempt to draw the defense offsides, then waste a timeout to punt the ball.

No way Sparano would have had the balls to make that call. If anything it was overly aggressive by Smith. I could understand if they were on the 50 yard line, but on your own 30, in over time and putting the opposition automatically in a kickable position????
