Mike Smith wins Coach of the Year over Tony Sparano

Coach of the year

Berman just said that Smith had 23 1/2 votes and Tony had 22 1/2 votes...said it on Sunday Countdown

Just posted the same thing...

Mods...please merge my thread into this thread.

Meh, they are both excelent coaches, both very worthy of the award; it was a toss up in my book. Congratulations to him.

I'm sure that Sparano will take a playoff win over a Coach of the Year nod.

If his team is still alive after today, everyone will know who the real coach of the year is.

Someone here posted a link to a site a few days ago that said Smith and Sparano split the award?

not mad at all. if anyone were to win it over it over him smith deserved it. both have been great

Eh Smith only had one more vote, I can take that I guess. Smith had a rookie QB and a RB who had never been the #1 before so he did wonders.

In the end these things don't mean much, so who cares. But it is BS. I'm not sure how anyone in their right minds passes up a guy who led the biggest turn around team in history. No doubt the 'Parcells' factor had a role (that Sparano had a lot of rebuilding help from his top exec).
That's BS. Has The Hoodie been any less of a 'genius' because Scott Pioli? Sparano had to manage and implement half a new roster and completely change the identity of his team. We had NOTHING last year. Atlanta at least had some promising young WR and offensive line.
