Mike Williams
Position:
WR School & Year/Status: Syracuse - Senior Jersey Number: #1 Height & Weight: 6-2 - 204 lbs

~At 6-2 and 204 pounds, Williams has a great combination of size and speed and that will keep him pretty high on some draft boards. However, some teams will simply drop him off their board entirely due to the off-field issues. He can be a great NFL wide receiver, but he better do a good job during interviews with NFL teams if he wants to get drafted in the first few rounds.~

I was wondering what did you think of him as a player? I havent seen him much, but the times I did see him I was very impressed. I seen him as a first round prospect. He has had a lot of academic issue, but as far as I know he never been in any legal problems. He might be one of those players who was never meant for college life. He could be a steal in the draft.

I have seen him play a few times solid WR, wouldn't be a bad 6 or 7 pick up. However I would take MArcus Easley out of UCONN over him, this kid has great size and speed. He looks like a A. Boldin clone, you might have seen the 2 finger catch on ESPN he made in his Bowl GAme this year. I would love this kid in the 6 or 7 he is very raw, lots of upside.

he quit on his team.that's a major character red flag.

I'm originally from Syracuse and still follow the team, and I can tell you that Mike Williams is a top notch playmaker. He put up big stats on terrible offensive teams. It seemed that his main problems at school stemmed from the fact that he was constantly frustrated by having new personnel and coaching every year. He'll really succeed in the NFL only if he is put into a situation that has success and consistency. Based on these concerns, he may be there with our 3rd or 4th rounder. If the FO thinks he can succeed in Miami, it would be a great pick, as he definitely has #1 receiver potential.

To me, Mike Williams is the only guy that can somewhat challenge Dez Bryant's place as the most talented receiver on the field.

But where Dez Bryant was able to grow as a player and as a teammate under the tough-but-fair type of coaching you get by Mike Gundy, Mike Williams imploded under those conditions from Doug Marrone. So, what would either player do under a Parcellsian regime run by Tony Sparano? If history is a judge, Dez Bryant could thrive while Mike Williams could go end up on the street.

Mike Williams is a very talented WR and I wouldn't mind seeing him in Miami in the right round

I've never really heard the whole story about why he quit. I heard he had grade troubles but i'm not sure if that's why he quit. He's probably faster than Dez Bryant and he's great at making plays on the ball when it's in the air. I have a feeling the Bengals will draft him early, maybe the Raiders

NO WAY!!!

as an SU fan watching his whole career... if you want an idiot on your team with no work ethic, and has poor decisions off the field, then take him.

if you like dropped passes often, most quite inriguing how he actually drops these, then take him.

if you want a speed guy that struggles causing seperation many times, then take him.

I want him far away from the Dolphins... if he makes a team and does well, good for him... but to me he seems like one of those kids that try to make the NFL and dissapears quicker than ever.

here's the story from espn:

"Two years ago, he established a Syracuse record with touchdown receptions in nine straight games, then was suspended in June 2008 for violating the university's academic integrity policy and missed all of last season.

Williams was on the verge of another suspension when he quit the team, a person close to the program told ESPN's Joe Schad. Marrone, through a spokesperson, declined Tuesday to address specifics.

According to a report in the Syracuse Post-Standard, Williams was in a vehicle with teammates Torrey Ball, Antwon Bailey, Andrew Tiller when it was rear-ended by a tractor trailer early Sunday morning.

Marrone told Williams that he could be suspended again and the receiver said he'd rather quit, the source said.

great talent.i've watched him play in person and i can tell you he mixes in the great catches with the easy drops. but i seriously question the judgement of a pro prospect who would set himself back 2 possibly 3 rounds in the draft for a night at the crap tables. incredibly stooooopid!!!
