That was then this is now.Lets be a team like that again.Go fins.

I hope someday an article like this talks about the 2015 Miami Dolphins as being one of the best Dolphins team ever.

Those are some impressive things. Marino having more 400 yard games than Brady and Montana combined ... and more than triple Aaron Rodgers. All done in a time when it was much harder to throw.

But, the most impressive stat was that the 1972 Miami Dolphins were the:

"only team in the Super Bowl era to lead the NFL in total offense, total defense, scoring offense and scoring defense in the same season."

Wow, and with all those Hall of Famers on Pittsburgh's Steel Curtain, Pittsburgh could only finish 2nd in defensive categories.

Could you imagine what Dan would do to defense's with today's rules? I could only imagine how many times he would have thrown for 400 yards (assuming he had similar talent at RB today like he did most of his time back then).

I wont take anything away from Montana, Brady and Rodgers because I respect all three and there accomplishments but I still would take Marino as the best pure passer. Rodgers could give him a run for his money when he is done but again different rules.

I have tried several times to explain to my children what it was like to watch Marino play live but words just can't do it - you had to be there. I feel sorry for fans of this team that never got the joy of seeing him play.

Great stuff. At one point, Miami also won 29 out of 30 games. The team had the streak of 18 in a row snapped by Oakland. Then went on an 11-game winning streak before losing the last game of the season.

I read somewhere that the Dolphins had the best four year stretch winning percentage-wise in NFL history. I think that stretch included the three super bowls in a row and the season after. An amazing time to be a Miami fan. Hoping history comes close to repeating itself in the near future.

In 1971, the Dolphins went 10-3-1 en route to the first Super Bowl in team history and the first of what would be three straight appearances in the championship game. Does the 2015 team have what it takes to make history again?

Well there it is, clearly NFL.com is already suggesting we may go undefeated this season. :chuckle:

Over 40 years ago....PLEASE let us get a winner NOW.

Might as well take back the blowjob you had yesterday for the handjob you get today

Thanks for sharing. I agree. Would love to see 2015 referenced as the end of the playoff and Super Bowl drought WITH A WIN!

More evidence that the 72 Dolphins were in fact the greatest team ever......the wins and stats back it up.

No other team has ever accomplished that feat.
