Is it possible to put a limit on new threads by having a post minimum for new members?? I would expect 200 or so posts would discourage alot of the spammers and trolls. Just an idea.

that would be good but then some members who has good input and don't spam will get pentalized

a lot of the time it's the people with over 1k/2k posts that post non-sensacal crap.

There would be an incentive for good posters with low post levels to join in more often, if they knew that they needed to to start new threads. Besides if new people have to take part threads before getting the option to start a new one they will have plenty of time to figure out how the board works. Also anyone with no intention of being a good member of the board can get filtered out pretty quickly before they flood the board with crap.

What would you do about fans of other teams who legitimately want to come here and talk football the week before /after we play them?

Then come here and talk, there is nothing to stop you from doing that. There are plenty of threads to take part in, often they are about our upcoming matchups, or previous games. But as much as I enjoy talking with some of the fans of other teams the focus here is the Dolphins, and should remain that way.

I think it should be one more post then you ever have!

In a perfect world where there was a moderator available 24/7 to pay his attention to what was going on, the easy solution to this problem in my opinion would be to find a way to moderate new threads posted by people with fewer than x number of posts. If the topic is a legitimate one, the moderator could move it from the "new user forum" to the main one. The problem is that you really would have to have almost immediate response and that nobody can expect that on a board of this nature. Given the constraints in place, I think the current policy of no limitation is the right course.

The Mods here do a great job of trying to keep the threads in the proper forums. My point is that if there is some limitation at the start then new members can peruse the whole board and know where to start a thread. It's the repeats and misplaced threads that make the main forum almost unreadable on most days. Also the ability for a pissed off fan to come here and start a " I can't take it anymore " after a loss is one of the biggest problems on this forum IMO.

With the 2 years we've just had the "I cant take it anymore" threads are starting to pile up.
