We saw it throughout camp. We saw it in the preseason. And we saw it early in Miami’s first victory of the season.
  • In the first quarter, Fitzpatrick disengaged from a blocker, spun around, dove at the right thigh of herculean former Alabama running back Derrick Henry and upended him after a gain of 5.
  • On the very next play, Fitzpatrick diagnosed a pass in the flat to Corey Davis. He quickly accelerated toward the receiver and dragged him down by the ankles after a gain of 1 yard.
  • Then, on a later drive in the first quarter, on a 4th-and-goal from the 3, Minkah prevented a Titans touchdown. He identified the pass play (he has tremendous diagnosis skills and instincts as a rookie) and made his move out of the end zone and toward the receiver, who caught the ball inside the 3-yard line. Fitzpatrick corralled Corey Davis by the left thigh and pulled him down outside of Miami’s end zone. It was a pure form tackle.

He's obviously NOT remotely a conventional "rookie."

The kids natural football ability coupled with his brain are very dangerous for the opposition.

I think his "worst" game of the year is behind him. That's how good he's gonna be.

I agree, downhill tackling gotta to improve though( more so in aggressiveness coming downhill then tacking form)

Tackles fine for a corner. Textbook form. I think as a safety that yeah you gonna need a little more but honestly with what that kid brings to the table if he hand fights 2nd level downhill rbs out of bounds taking proper angles to the ball I think I can live with it.

That kid does so many things at the elite level. And fresh out the box even.

Lets sure hope so cause we haven't have a lot of luck drafting defensive players high in years. We need an elite player for a change. He has the tools and the right attitude also.

Sad,that the same franchise that drafted Minkah, also spent a first on Charles Harris last year. You have to hit on your first rounders.

And to make it worse... let’s not forget that we drafted Charles Harris over TJ Watt , which is looking like a HUGE mistake (hopefully that changes).

Not sure how it changes, outside a handicap like a horse race with Watt asked to lug around let's say 25 pounds of lead weight in his uniform.

Two years ago I saw posts proclaiming Hall of Fame for Landry and Tunsil. Not frequent posts, but they were here.

Fitzpatrick seemingly has greater opportunity for first or second team All Pro level than anyone we've drafted in 15+ years. I'm not sure any draftee has managed that since Taylor/Thomas/Madison/Surtain.
