From what I saw of Minkah and Derwin last year, they both just impress me with how they approach the game and how smart they are on the field.
Two things gave Derwin the ultimate edge:
1. He never really needed to be pigeonholed like Minkah in 2018. We had injury issues at CB and Minkah essentially ran as the boundary opposite of X in the second half of the season. He is more than capable of doing that, and that role sets him up for a better financial future potentially, but he is not a guy you want where his back is facing the QB while he covers on the outside.
2. Derwin looks like Sean Taylor out there from an overall athletic perspective (Nobody is Sean Taylor but he is the first guy that really has come close) A big, strong and fast safety that can play every position in the secondary and a sure enough tackler to make your LBs look substandard.
I absolutely would give Minkah the edge in just being a Sleuth for the defense, but I tend to agree that We played it safe and got a sure pro bowl talent while Derwin has the hall of fame makeup you dream about in the top 15.
