I'm really excited for Minkah and the Dolphins defense this year. It was satisfying to see how the front office handled the draft (even though it got our QB lovin' blood flowing), but Minkah fell right into our laps like dancer at tootsies. Can't wait for the first interception, practice, Pre-season, and regular season.

What is there not to love about Fitz so far.

Due to the impact he could have with making sure others line up correctly and understand assignments, he has a chance at being one of the best draft picks we have ever made.

A smart field general can improve the play of others and that makes them much more valuable. Imagine if McMillian at MIKE can do the same.

Was reading a bit in a Jet’s forum and they were raving about a DL player that was pointing out all kinds of little things on the line to others........said he was destined to be a great coach some day. If we could somehow get that in a DT, and Minkah and McMillian become vocal leaders......wow our defense could be light years better.

Roquan should be the leader going into the season given that he’ll be in the thick of things most plays. Minkah does have a very good chance though.

I'm not worry about Minkah being ROY or not. As long as he help us win games I'm fine with it

If, at end of season, he's even CONSIDERED in the running for DROY, he'll be the best Miami pick in YEARS.

I would think about those 10-1 odds on Marcus Davenport.

Saints secondary is really good and the offense scores a ton of points. Perfect recipe for pass rushers to EAT. No offense to Trey Hendrickson or Alex Okafor, but they aren't the same level as Marcus Davenport when it comes to pass rush.

They sank so many resources into Davenport that they're going to give him every opportunity to play and to rush the passer in 2018, and with that offense and that secondary, a lot of those opportunities are going to be pretty straight-forward. He doesn't have to get really polished in terms of offensive play recognition and tendency study if the other side are often put into predictable situations with predictable drop depth and predictable timing.

That's the thing whenever people would call him "raw". You need to qualify that. Is he raw in terms of learning how to work within a contiguous whole as a defense, how to recognize what the offense is doing, tendencies, etc? Sure. Is he raw in pass rush technique? Hell no. He has one of the best and most polished long-arm moves out there and he knows how to get to the passer in other ways too.

If all goes according to plan offensively and with that secondary, that's all they'll need him to show, that pure pass rush ability and physical dominance.

I predicted he wins it...like his chances over the two in front of him actually.

He was drafted to fill a critical role...and hole...in the Dolphin defense.

If he succeeds I think the Thorpe and Bendarik winner will add another award.
