John DeFilippo has been one of the most polarizing figures for the Minnesota Vikings this season as the offensive coordinator in his first year with the team, but they are pulling the plug on the experiment late in the season. The Vikings have fired DeFilippo after returning home from a 21-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14 on Monday Night Football. Kevin Stefanski, the team's quarterback's coach, will take over as coordinator.

Scapegoat.

That Seattle defense was gonna eat up at least 25 football teams that came in there that night.

Really have to give it to that team. Doesn’t matter what they put out there it’s gonna play really high level.

Be it running game which leads the league or defense which completely buzz sawed Minnesota.

Must be nice

Perception and reality can be funny. DeFillipo had been hyped up as a potential HC and an upgrade over Pat Shurmur at OC, but the VIkings have been very upset with his lack of creativity and consistency with that roster. Great QB coach though.

Hoops is right in that he was a bit of a scapegoat, but they just haven't gotten the production they were expecting for the talent they had.

Does this favor us (general disarray) or hinder us (surprise/unknown)?

Must be terrifying to go head-to-head with Matt Burke in your very first game as OC.
Matt Burke is going to make these guys look like all Pros watch tight ends will be wide open linebackers looking lost wide receivers runnning free

I think Minnasota will play much better this week.
The Fins had better address this game like a playoff game.

Minnesota really seems to have gotten away from the play action passing game this year. Last year their offense fed off of their running game and this year it is just non existent.

tough draw. the defense has seen a small decline and they put a lot of stake in that being a top 5 unit again.

They underestimated the loss of tony Sparano ( May he rest in peace). he was a smart guy and terrific o line coach. His death and the devastating injuries took it's toll and it's caught up to them.

Defilippo got a raw deal because Zimmer wants to run the ball more. which is their weakness go figure. can't blame that QB they paid 84 million to

This could hurt us in that Miami has yet to see tape of this guys offense. It could help us in that the Vikings O may be in learning something new, they may keep it simple the first game out.
I did hear that Zimmer wanted to run more. This could be good for us, Miami has made some pounding stops at the line this year.

Remember, despite their issues Cousins entered Mondays game with the Seahawks completing 70% of his passes on the season.

Not loving this. I feel like when this happens it wakes teams up for a week or two and they get some offensive traction. In reality they can't really implement much new on a short week, but the calls will look different. Harder for the D to prep for .
