Eagles are blitzing EVERY play just like the Bengals blitzed us on every play.

What's the deal with blocking the blitz? Why don't teams keep two backs in, and let them block each side. Then send the tight end or one of the backs out into a pass route every other play - mix it up of course. Read where the blitz is coming from and throw it to the weakness in the defense. At some point, you have to be able to win your one on one match ups.

One more point on the blitz. From looking at this game (Monday night), it seems like the best way to counter a blitzing team is to run the screen pass. Everytime Minnesota does this they're successful. But then they go back to the traditional passing game. Were I the coach this week, given that we know Pittsburgh is going to blitz ON EVERY PLAY (until we stop them), I would run every variety of screen pass (left, right, middle etc.) and I'd keep running them until the Steelers back off. We didn't run that many screen passes - only three or four in obvious screen situations (3rd and over 15).

That's my game plan: screen passes and an improved Oline with Mcintosh and Carey.

Incidentally, Damian Mcintosh is a huge upgrade over Wade Smith. I think you make that move this week and you promote Vernon Carey to the starting lineup in place of St. Clair. John can be the back up tackle at both RT and LT, and you go with that unit. We can win with that unit.

it sounds easy doesn't it? In order to run a solid screen and have success you have to get your OLine to pull and get some blockers out there. At the moment the phins can't use play-action since they have no running game, the QB is under constant pressure so the RB needs to stay in for protection, McMichael is your 2nd best receiving option and using him to help the line takes away a weapon.

Until Miami gets teams to respect som aspect of their offense they will jam the line and pressure AJ until he beats them. They will cut off the screen until AJ shows team he can move the ball vertical and not give up TDs to the wrong team.

True, but AJ's going to have a hard time throwing if Pittsburg is blitzing every down. I guess it's the chicken or the egg situation, but personally, I believe the best method of operation at this point is shotgun with konrad on AJ's left and Gordon on his right. When the play starts, whichever side does not have a blitz, that back should pop out to the flat for the outlet. Keep McMichael in on some plays to block and just go with your two receivers out in the pattern with max protection, or send McMichael up the middle - especially if you see the MLB is sneaking up on the presnap read. That happens and Feely and McMike know it's a quick pass.

I'm not trying to make it sound easy here. I know it's harder to put into practice and I agree that it does take a little coordination to execute the screen pass but that's why we have a week of work in front of us. I'm saying we should practice four or five types of screen plays and drill them over and over because you have to assume that Pitt is going to blitz again and again.

No it's not a bad Viking line, it's just the eventual SB champs are that good! Why even play the rest of the season they should just give the most outsatanding team to ever line up and play football the trophy now and save us all the suspence! I live here in Phily and the fans are just so great they deserve the trophy, lets all be pals and just give them the trophy now? No way the Eagles could lose this year they have the toughest schedule every year and and they still make the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP! Did you see all the calls go Phillys way they have such a fantasicly coached team I'll be shocked if they get 10 yrds in peneltys all year!......(BTW, I cant stand the Eagles and the way they play in the weakest division every year and yet they get all the props, It makes me want to puke! I wonder if they will play one team this year with a Dfence!)

Phillys D is a lot better than Cinci's and Minnesota was missing two lineman, a TE, and an FB too I think
