The Fins missed the boat putting the franchise tag on Carey. The tackle market is not strong. Should be interesting.

i dont think we have a player, that we risk losing, that is worth the tag. imo. see. saves alot of thread shreading.

..Missed the boat? I'm pretty sure this FO knew exactly what was going on.

Maybe they are nearing long term deals with some of these players. We still have a week before free agency starts. I would be surprised if absolutely no one is re-signed. I still think a deal with Vernon Carey gets done.

What if they are gonna move satele to rt and alex brown at C?

I'm not saying that that is going to happen but what the hell do you know about the tackle market?

I think you hit the nail on the head and yes we will resign Carey along with Bell and Goodman. Hill I think is a 50/50 deal and Crowder is a 40/60 deal.

satele will never play rt and who is alex brown?

I agree I do believe a long term deal is in the works with Carey.
There was speculation yesterday, that a deal was close, but nothing was said after that.

We have to be honest here. Players hate to be franchised, and many will try their hardest to avoid it. I would especially think a player like Carey (a bit of a reputation of being lazy) especially wants to get a long term money deal locked up.
Lets hope we resign him, and put a weight clause in his contract if so.

If Vernon hits the open market, he's not coming back and then I will definately agree that not tagging him was a mistake.

8.4M for this season is notihng considering how difficult having to replace him will be. At the very least you can put it off for a year and fill that void next year.

Max Starks was tagged for pete's sake because the Steelers knew he'd get more money on the open market than he's worth.

Keeping my fingers crossed here, the thought of having to take the 6th or 7th best tackle in the draft at 25 makes me ill.

It's nice to know that some of us are not a part of the Dolphins front office; however, I wouldn't mind some of us being a part of the Jets, Bills and Pats front offices.

Vernon Carey is not a good enough OT to be making the kind of money he would with a franchise tag. Because of that weak market (with Gross gone) he might get a stronger deal elsewhere, but he still could end up back with the Phins, though it will still probably be for less money than the Franchise tag would have given him.

We're not talking about a pro-bowl player here, Vernon Carey has shown flashes but i'm not sure he's worth almost 9 million for next season alone desiring an even bigger contract down the road.
