There has already been talk about this, but this is what was reported from palm beach post about the problems with Miami;s secondary, hopefully this will be corrected when the players start to gel, since this secondary consists of young players and players coming from other teams. The secondary has the ability so hopefull things will be corrected as players get adjusted to the schemes and to each other

The Palm Beach Post reports that Dolphins coach Nick Saban said the struggles of his defensive backs in Thursday's season-opening 28-17 loss to Pittsburgh stemmed from poor communication. The secondary was in the wrong coverage on the 87-yard touchdown pass to tight end Heath Miller. There were several other blown assignments as backup Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch completed 15 of 25 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns for a passer rating of 126.5, which is his highest since 1998.

I know Nick wants this to be fixed right away but when you have four guys in the secondary playing in a NFL regular season games it is going to take some time before they develope the chemistry they need.

Perhaps with so many young and new guys Saban should reduce the complexity of the defensive schemes until they know what they are doing, then add more wrinkles and schemes to the defensive playbook.

I for one don't believe in dumbing down schemes. I've tried it with HS kids and it backfires.

When you challenge people to learn more, they are more engaged and their entire level of play rises. It also gives you more opportunities to confuse your opposition which helps your players.

i think the fact that everyone we had starting except tillman were new to the scheme... when travis daniels is back i think it'll be better with his experience in the system...

My thoughts exactly, when Daniels returns (hopefully this weekend) I think you will see a big improvement in the secondary. You're basically subtracting a guy from the secondary that doesn't know what he's doing and then inserting a returning starter that has multiple years experience in the system. The extra few days of practice this week won't hurt either...

Oh please!

all i can say is not good enough we need to bring in atleast one quality FA safety please!!!!!!!

Another sky is falling, get somebody in here rant! Did it ever occur to you that bringing in ANYbody now would be a DISASTER, they would not know our schemes and the problems we have are NOT related to lack of skill or speed, they are related to players not having enough time together under the complex schemes of our defense. Some people just don't get it and all they can do is scream "bring in somebody else", that's the WORST thing we could do. :fire:
