A few Dolphins nuggets on a Wednesday:

• The Dolphins haven’t ruled out keeping linebacker Koa Misi, depending on his recovery from neck surgery and how they address the position in free agency and the draft. According to Misi’s representation, he is expected to be cleared for full-go around May 1 and be ready to play next season.

The Dolphins ideally would like him to be healthy before making a decision, unless the need to create cap space should dictate otherwise. He has a $4.7 million cap hit if he’s on the team, $578,000 if he’s not.

The Dolphins intend to keep restricted free agent Kiko Alonso but hadn’t broached a longterm contract as of last week. (That certainly could change at any point.) And check out Armando’s blog for information on what position he wants to play.

• The Dolphins know they need at least two linebackers and it’s a weak free agent class of 4-3 outside linebackers.

I don't think Misi's $4.7M cap hit is a make or break right now. The current staff seems to like him, and he's a decent player when he's healthy. Don't expect him to be cut without Miami having a plan of how to replace him.

Misi as a 3rd or 4th LB would be ok....assuming he takes a cut

... and as Jackson points out, no particular reason to release him just yet, unless you need the money.

Lets make sure we have replacements on board also and how FA pans out.

A LB with a bad neck? Full recovery? Highly doubt that.

Don't be fooled...it's time to move on...anyone thinking otherwise is fooling themselves...

He should retire - backs and necks should never be messed around with...

Key word's on the original post...."According to Misi's representation"...

Hopefully we can replace him. Can't keep relying on injury prone players. Spoiler alert: They will get injured again.

We've got to sign a starter and draft another at LB. Good thing is because of Kiko's versatility those positions are interchangeable. I don't like Misi, but with a pay cut I don't mind him as the first backup LB. I mean, he's an average player when healthy and our depth is horrendous right now.

Misi will be cut, but there is no reason to do it now. Hold him for insurance.

I would imagine we grab at least 1 starting LB in FA, 1 starter in draft.

When that comes to fruition, bye Koa. Will not Missi you.

Misi won't be back at his current cap hit. They like him, but with little guaranteed money they'd lower his cap hit if they kept him.

It isn't just that Misi is injured, it's when he's healthy he isn't a difference maker. Miami needs defenders who can ball.

Misi at full recovery and at a much lower salary number as our #4 or #5 LB would be fine. Anything otherwise is a bad idea.

So basically he's gone.

Last year of his contract? If he clears medical I see no problem with him staying in the roster. Alonso, Hull, Hewitt, rookie, veteran, and Misi. Sounds about the best they can make of the situation.

Like Jenkins, Misi is a good LB when when healthy. Problem is those health issues are rampant and now quite serious. Considering his injury is neck related I'd rather the guy hang up his cleats, and walk away from the game while he still can.

I mean that's the real question right? What is the best we make out of this bad situation. Let's say out of free agency we can only sign one lower tier type LB (a backup or so its possible things go that way).

So you go into the draft and do what - grab one LB (with all the other needs) so were left where exactly? you have to have more LB's so you basically have to choose between a Misi who is under contract or all those other un-drafted guys etc.

Pick your poison to get you to 2018- unless the CFL guy they signed works out- I already forgot his name.

That is fair SOS so give me your solution (plans) with the LB unit for 2017..
