Koa Misi - LB - Dolphins

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are toying with the idea of moving SLB Koa Misi to middle linebacker.

The Dolphins seem intent on getting MLB Dannell Ellerbe to one of the outside spots. Misi is an excellent run defender and can cover a little bit. At 6-foot-3 and 251 pounds, he definitely has the size to make the move. Despite earning less cash than Ellerbe and WLB Philip Wheeler, Misi is easily Miami's best 'backer.

Misi is a Manster vs the run, and they had talked of this last year. I hope they do it but, not sure about Ellerbe on the outside.

Dion Jordan is out best 'backer'. He should be standing up on the first two downs

no brainer imo should of been done before , seems every year misi gets a new position !!
hopefully it works well ,coouldnt be any worse really than last year ,

i still draft a lb or 2 tho , no real depth

I Iike that idea. But we need more depth at backer. Maybe we use Jordan a bit at outside.
When misi was out u can see the run d sufferd.

I'm not a big fan of Jenkins but, in very limited play (127 snaps), he was average, not bad for a 4th round pick. Maybe he steps it up to fill in some.

I think Misi is better suited for OLB. He doesn't have that kind of toughness to be a MLB. I think he will start out well, but end up with a concussion or another injury.
I would draft Borland or Mosley for that role.
If I were GM I would draft both. Our LB's suck

Jordan/Misi - Borland - Ellerbee/Mosley

Keep Ellerbe at MLB and start Jenkins is a better idea.

I think landing a LB very early is in the cards come draft day. Joe has to know the LB play has to get better.

I think Misi can move inside on 3-4 looks easy. As for a 3rd down nickle LB, forget it.

Im not a big fan of the move either. Our LB core was terrible last year...but the only bright spot is that Misi is really settling into a solid 4-3 SOLB. Now we are going to move him to another new position? How about we draft Shazier to replace Wheeler and just leave Ellerbe alone and not make him learn another new position.

Who is proposing this change for Koa Misi? Is it the coaches? Is Hickey throwing the idea around? Why would they communicate it at this time? Even if it's worth considering, why communicate this to the media?
I would expect that he would struggle to make the change, but sometimes you don't know until he's given a go. The LB with some upside on our roster may be Jelani Jenkins.
