Miss having linemen like Dwight Stephenson..

Dwight is one of my all time fav Dolphins players!

He'd be great in today's game as well.

Dude was cat quick, explosive and once he got leverage it was OVER!

>>> Marty Lyons is pure human garbage!
Quickest center I've ever seen and pound per pound the strongest.

I think he weighed less than 270.

I’ll take a center like him, please. Granted I wasn’t alive when he started playing, but facts are facts. HOF CENETER.

..can Dickerson (when healthy) or Creed Humphrey be good centers for 10+ years?! Would be nice!
Humphrey put up some unreal athletic numbers at his pro day.

Dickerson is very physical. I'd like either, but between the two I'd take Humphrey.

I was just thinking the same. Even though I’m as old as dirt, what if we had a Y A Tittle. And no I didn’t see him play he retired a few years before I knew what a football even was.

Stephenson was the best center to ever play in the NFL. Had his career not been shortened he probably would have made 8+ All Pro teams. Pittsburgh's Webster took over the mantle after Dwight Stephenson had to retire and became an HoF center himself, but he was always a very distant second to Stephenson. Paul "Bear" Bryant (Bruce Arians mentor and the all-time great at Alabama) called Dwight Stephenson the best center he'd ever coached.

Like Marino and Csonka ... Stephenson was a one-off. Not going to be another like him, but damn were we lucky to have him playing in our uniform.

Ahhh, guess I mis-remembered that, thanks for the clarification.

Don't get me wrong..I loved me some big Cat Dwight back in the day,but John Hannah was a monster....

And Dwight was the smallest center in his era, and way smaller than anyone at the position in today's NFL ... but such functional strength! Elite mobility, fantastic technique, and unbelievable functional strength. Almost never got a line call wrong, handled NT's and DT's without help despite giving up 30+ lbs every time. Truly defies the senses to watch Dwight Stephenson play ... makes the OL look EASY ... and it definitely is not.

In '99, Hannah was named the second best O-lineman of all-time. Behind only Anthony Munoz. Hannah and Tackle Leon Gray were a hell of a duo on their left side. I remember as a kid wondering if he was ever going to retire. Seemed like he played forever.

Hannah was an absolute brutal force. Different kind of player. But the Hog was best OG of all-time BY FAR!
