This past offseason I stressed how we needed to resign Paul Soliai. Many people disagreed with that. They said Earl Mitchell was a "beast against the run" or an "upgrade" over Big Paul. After watching the Broncos, Jets and Ravens run roughshod over us ... and losing at home again to a Ravens team that was very beatable ... and of course the heartbreaker at Denver ... our playoff hopes are in serious doubt.

The defense has played well ... but we still cannot stop the run. Gaping holes on every play. IMHO, we never should have let Soliai go. Reardless, we need a run plugger next year.

Saw Soliai playing Monday Night in the Green Bay game. They were getting gashed by the run pretty badly. We actually were pretty good against the run until 3 - 4 weeks ago. Not sure Soliai would have mattered.

They do miss him and I never brought the hype this D was top 10. They have not made a necessary game winning stop on defense in Miami since 1974 and this years team is no different. They are not 50/50 or even 70/30 when game is on the line...the are a 100% failure.

Which makes me wonder...Saints are cleaning house and taking names after this past weekends games and in their own eyes this season has been a debacle for them so what do they do? Call players out and put the laggards on the street.
In Miami? Business as usual...Makes one think...are they even trying to win?

Uh.... last I checked Soliai is doing terrible with the Falcons.

Who have he Saints cut? Saints brought their problems on themselves. Obviously they didn't watch any of the Cowboys games from last year cause they signed Rob Ryan as DC after he was fired from Dallas. Stupid move.

Last I checked they won the Jet game a few weeks ago with an Interception on defense that sealed the game. So 1-2 this year after failures against GB and Detroit.
Last year they had game saving stops on defense against Colts, Falcons, Chargers, Steelers and Patriots while blowing late game saves vs Buffalo and Carolina, 5-2 last year.
Nice of you to make up bogus stats. Needing a defensive stop they have been successful 6 out 10 times in the last 2 years. That is above average.

In that same 2 year period the offense has had the ball 6 times with lead and a chance to expire the clock and win the game on offense. They are 0-6 in those situations and have left the game to the defense every time.

We were doing fine against the run this year without Solia. That all stopped when the offense stopped moving the ball the last few games. Since Albert went down we are gaining over 80 yards a game less on offense which puts a tremendous strain on the defense.

The larger problem is we gave money to Starks who mailed it in. Would've kept Paul over Randy's lazy butt

Obviously there are a lot of different factors in determining the effectiveness of a single player in a defensive scheme but as far as rush yards given up per game:

Falcons 21st (122.9)
Dolphins 22nd (123.5)

I'll leave it up to the discretion of others in the importance of .6 yds a game.

Clearly the difference in 5-8 and 7-6....:idk:

No, we do not miss Soliai. Ask any Falcons fan and they will tell you he is garbage

You say this like we were the ones who cut Soliai.

Soliai is like the lowest rated DT vs the run this year.

Just sayin
