This is one of the few positive things Ross and his minions have done from a PR standpoint since he took over the team. I still have the utmost respect for the man. His quiet demeanor is something lost on these owners that run in front of the camera every chance they get, i.e. Jerry Jones. You will never see an owner build a stadium with his own money rather than trying to gouge the tax paper for every cent he can get.
Joe Robbie, the missing years, are over at Sun Life Stadium. The memory of the former Dolphins owner who built the stadium without public funding has been resurrected with the return of his forgotten statue, which will be rededicated in a new plaza bearing his name in a ceremony prior to Monday's season-opener against the Patriots. There has been a sense of Robbie's memory being pushed aside since the first naming rights deal removed his name from the stadium. Tim Robbie expressed the sentiment in a radio interview earlier this year with Joe Rose on WQAM when he pointed out that his father's statue was "kind of tucked back where unless you stumble upon it, you're not going to really see it. It needs to be more prominently displayed."

The dedication of the statue and plaza will precede an ceremony inside the stadium commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The tribute will recognize 400 police and firefighters. There will be a pregame flyover by a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. Fergie will sing the national anthem, and Hank Williams Jr. will introduce Monday Night Football to the national television audience.

And we wonder why we have been a disgrace, making the wrong moves right and left for over a decade and a half. I find it hard to believe that this statue of the great Joe Robbie was "lost". It was deliberately stashed there by the little man Wayne.
Robbie and Shula are the heart and soul of this franchise, like Lombardi is to Green Bay and Halas is to Chicago.
I believe this could signal a reversal of fortunes.
Robbie and Shula should be front and center...period.
Wayne's likeness should be on the jiffy john door knob IMO.

Joe Robbie was an owner that knew what he wanted and went out and got it from building a winning football team to his own stadium. He deserves the recognition.

This is what I've been saying for awhile now, so I echo your sentiments exactly!
