Some Phans belive that we should be rebuilding with young talet for the near future, while others want to see immediate results after many years of patience. To me, it seems like Philbin and Hickey are kinda on the fence in going both ways.

On one side, we seem to want to build through the draft, and have signed some young talent in FA. On the other hand, we have signed/re-signed older players like Grimes, Finnegen, Starks, and Albert to big contracts.

Is the combo deal the right way to go or, would it be better to go one way or the other?

I think it is always good to have a mixture of seasoned veterans and young guys. We saw last year what happened with a lack of veteran leadership, which is why guys like Albert, Finnegen, Grimes and Starks were important signings/re-signings.

Still want the core of the team built through the draft, but never a bad thing to have some older guys around.

Teams always need veteran presence in the locker room. You don't win with rookies-3 year starters in the NFL.

You have to have a combination. A young team never wins because theylack experience you need a mix with veterans. This team is in win now mode. Philbin is gone overwise

I agree that the loss of leadership last year, in Long, Bush, and Dansby, did the team no favors but, have to question the leadership of Grimes, Starks. and Albert compare to them. Finnegen may be different but, may not even start. Also, they cost around $30M a year.

i don't think it really matters, as long as you have the players that fit the scheme the team runs, and they execute. You just need good players, young or old.

oh? who says?

people have been flapping this around like it is some sort of gospel. and the ONLY place this has come from? THE PHILBIN HATERS!!!

the team has never said a thing about philbin on a short leash. neither have the players. philbin was handed [in his second year] one of the worst drafts in nfl history, leaving him with the same crappy, void off of talent squad he had in year one. not his fault!! not his fault martin couldnt handle an nfl locker room.

we were 8-8 last year with the worst o-line in the game, a qb who couldnt hit the big play to save his soul and held the ball to long and a nation wide scandal and he got us to 8-8.

thats a damn good coach in my book. but all this philbin is gone if this happens or if that doesnt happen is NONSENSE!! one hater says it and the rest follow like sheep. boss ross isnt letting philbin go any time to soon. not after what he was handed last year. it would take a major collapse this year and next for ross to put him on any hot seat.

I like philbin for the record but the fact that you can't see hes on the hot seat I can't believe that. Shouldn't have to be said. Another year of no playoffs hes gone breaking news to you I guess

why? we didnt win diddly with those guys!! most thought dansby was a bust as he didn t play here like he did in az. and they were right. you can only go by what a player does on your team, not the other guys. everyone went on and one over the last few years about LACK OF LEADERSHIP on this team and rightfully so! those guys were not real leaders. they were not with us anyways and they got shown the door.

they ended up being trouble makers here and bought themselves a ticket out of town with that silly mutiny attempt when they stormed philbins office and DEMANDED to be a leadership committee after their good pal, homey the clown [aka ocho stinko] got ran off [his 3rd team in 3 years]. and i was glad. they needed to go after doing that, especially over a guy like homey the clown.

no mistake. and this roster has needed churning top to bottom for a while. i see hickey doing just that and its a good thing. some of these kids he drafted are natural leaders and some of the f/a's were leaders also. they did it on the field and in the locker room. they didnt need to form some "committee" to do it.

well, it was said NICK. just because you have taken the ball and ran with it doesnt make it so.

i explained the reason why HE IS NOT on any hot seat and i havnt seen ANYONE give a real reason why he should be.

if you would have know before last year what was going to happen, the o-line, the completely bust draft, tanny not improving enough, the scandal. would you have looked at all that and went, oh yeah, were 8-8 no problem. no, you would not have. i wouldnt either. philbin did a hell of a coaching job through all that and going 8-8. had tanny not COMPLETELY TANKED those last two games, we would have made the playoffs. didnt everyone say how much the o-line improved after martin and ritchie were gone? i heard lots of that. he had won games behind that same line and only needing to win ONE game agaisnt two division rivals with weaker records, one we had already beat during the season. thats not all on philbin.

like i said, i have given many reasons he shouldnt and WONT be fired. how about something from the philbin haters [non rumor] that says he IS on the seat, someone who matters not finphaninukraine316guru or armondo. a LEGIT source. its all speculation [hope] from the haters who refuse to see what an actual good job he did under some of the worst circumstances a coach could have.

i see whats actually IS there nick, not what i want to be there.

Coaches get fired after 3 years no playoffs that's a general rule of thumb. What constitues as a real source? How often does a Owner come out and say this coach is on a hot seat? I doubt you will find any circumstance that happen before a guys last season

There's plenty of reasons he's on the hot seat. That's how football works, you have to win games and make the playoffs with the players you have. He has not done that. That puts him on the hot seat. You can add his inability to read his locker room which can partially be attributed to him which really hurt the organization's image. He's a 3rd year HC with a 3rd year QB. He's hitched to that wagon. Coaches have been fired for much less, and he hasn't shown himself to be more than an average coach to this point, that's enough to be on the "hot seat". Your seat is hot if you can't make the playoffs in 3 years as a HC, that's the nature of the beast.
